Sarfate
Just got back in from the Tides v. Bulls game and I had the chance to see Sarfate pitch. I'm not certain but I think this was his first performance of his rehab in AAA. Though I'm not a pitching expert by any means I thought he looked fairly good from where I was sitting. His fast-ball seemed sharp - touching 96 mph a couple of times and the rest seemed to hang around 94.
His off-speed stuff seemed to be pretty ok as well. While I couldn't really see the break on many of the pitches from where I was sitting, he did seem to fool some guys on a few pitches.
His line: 1 IP 0H 0R 0ER 1BB 1K
He threw 13 of his 22 pitches for strikes.
Hopefully he keeps going strong and we can get him back up in the pen real soon.

Sarfate is an interesting/frustrating project
And although I’d like to see more of him in Baltimore, there isn’t much room in the ’pen.

i dunno...
you gotta figure baez is offloaded before the end of the month or at least the waiver deadline and it’s increasinlgy looking like hendo could go, too, not to mention hill seems to be not long for this world. there’s definitely space opening up at some point, but ray and mickolio are also making their own respective bids for permanent spots in the big club’s pen. i suppose it’s even possible that sherrill’s out of here, as well.

It'd be nice if Sarfate could be effective
He throws so hard that I like watching him. Plus I’ve had a soft spot in my heart for him ever since they forced him to start and he gave that interview talking about how awful he is.

Aww, I'll always remember that interview and how sweet and sad he looked even talking about it and admitting his failure.
I decided from that day on I really liked the guy.
