105.7 The Fan proposes trades for Halladay
While channel surfing I heard Mark Zino, producer/engineer for the Bruce Cunningham and Scott and Anita show proposing a Nolan Reimold as a player to include in a trade for Roy "Doc" Halladay of the Blue Jays. What do you think? Maybe we should call him and tell him the Orioles are not going to trade the future for a guy we can not sign or would only want to play in Baltimore anyway. I personally would not trade Reimold but you never know.

Nolan Reimold
would only be the tip of the iceberg for a Halladay trade.

its not like he would waive his NTC for us
i have an excellent idea. lets trade wieters, reimold, and matusz for halladay.

Yeah you'd have to start with Reimold and one of the big three
And then add some lower prospects

hmm okay
reimold, wieters, matusz, tillman, and snyder. that seems logical right? maybe we’ll throw in bergesen as a token of our good faith

only
if they’re willing to take a salary dump of either BRob or Kakes as well. Ya gotta compromise.

oh yes
i forgot about that. i guess we ask them for bj ryan too since we are giving up half our team. too much to ask for?
oh wait…..

Thanks for the sarcasm
Think about what we got for Bedard. Jones was relatively similar to Reimold in value (hadnt produced offensively in MLB like Reimold has at this point, but was rated higher as a prospect and considered to have more upside); a solid reliever in Sherrill; a top pitching prospect (though admittedly pretty far away) in Tillman, and two more intriguing arms.
Now consider that Halladay has much more value than Bedard did back then, and plan accordingly.
Stacey’s right. Reimold would be just the beginning.

Reimold WOULD be just the beginning
I think twisted meant that what it would take to get Halladay is rediculous to even think about giving away. And Jones had way more value when we got him then Reimold has now, despite Reimolds quick start. They arent close. AJ is the best outfield we have as of this moment (sorry Nick) and still has the most potential. There’s no contest, and every GM (maybe not Bavasi) knew how valuable AJ was/is. They know Reimold is not AJ.

i was just kidding about trading those guys
it probably wouldnt require ALL of those guys but i was just noting the fact that it would probably take 3-4 of our top prospects (tillman, reimold, arrieta, matusz) and probably 1 or 2 other prospects to bring him here. then all hell breaks loose when we try to sign him to an extension. not worth it IMO

Oh I agree we shouldn't do it
I just think a lot of people overrate their own players and think they can swing deal for stars without giving up much.
You’re obviously not saying that, so that’s good.
Although I don’t think I would take 3-4 of our best prospects. No one fetches that much….I mean he is only signed for another 1.5 yrs.

I know Jones had more value than Reimold now
That was my point – Halladay > Bedard, and look what we got for Bedard.

any trade for halladay would be kinda dumb
we’d have to give up the farm (literaly) or create gaping holes for it to happen, plus come up with 100mil to resign him. No thanks.
also, i’d imagine there’d be no way he’d get traded within the division.

This is funny
5 years ago we would get into something like this, but not now, its the opposite of everything AM is doing.

we’d get into something like this, lose out, have been used as leverage, and pick up Doug Drabek or someone to ease the loss.

NO
Dealing reimold would be idiotic, considering we are in rebuilding mode and halladay wants to win now. If this deal was ever a possibility, i say trade huff, matusz, and possibly andino
by AJ10 on Jul 8, 2009 5:05 PM EDT reply actions 0 recs
Huff Matusz and Andino?
So half a year of an ok 1st baseman/DH, a bona fide top tier pitching prospect, and a guy we got for Hayden Penn who’d ride the pine for the Jays? Pretty sure that wouldnt land him. Even if it did, we’d have to shell out some rediculous number to keep him past next year. No thanks.

Pretty sure that wouldnt land him.
especially when the Cardinals offer is supposedly: “Give Ricciardi all our minor-league rosters and let him circle any 5 names.”

This is just
NOT what we need. I can’t even believe that people are entertaining this thought. People in Toronto would be laughing at us in a few years the way we laugh at Seattle now…

I'm tellin' ya, just resign Erik Bedard this offseason.
It’s a plan that could work, people. :)

but we wouldnt get a chance to trade away our future with that plan!!
how boring and logical…..

From what I have seen
I will take my chances with Bergensen, Tillman, Arietta, Matusz, Hernandez, Patton, Uhuera, Bass, Johnson and Sherrill going forward. Reimold, Jones and Markakis in the outfield. Isturiz, Aldino, Roberts and Huff.
