Blue Jays 3 - Orioles 2, Failing to hit w/ RISP, Now in Cananda
Missed opportunities. Think about that for a second. Runner at second, two outs, Andino grounds out in the 3rd. With a runner at second and one out, they get a walk, but fail to get a hit. A one out bunt single is followed by two straight outs. Bases loaded 1 out after a lead of hit batter, followed by a pop out and a fly out. First and second with 1 out and still no one can get a hit. Top of ten, Nick Markakis leads of with a double, followed by Huff striking out and two ground outs. The result was that in the bottom of the tenth Danys Baez gave up another game winning hit, this time a double to Adam Lind. Looks like we are back to the same old Danys.

If there is one really good thing that you can take from this game, is the outing by Chris Tillman. This was truly a bright spot as Tillman went into the 7th inning retiring two, and struck out 4 while giving up 3 walks and 4 hits. That was followed by another good outing for Cla Merideth. Since at this point in the season, we don't look at wins necessarily, we just try to look at how the player of the future are panning out, this was a good game. The evolution of Chris Tillman certainly progressed today seeing him go deeper into the game.
All that said the hitting front was not so positive with Kakes going 2 for 5 with a double, Nolan Riemold went 1 for 4 with an RBI, and thats about it. Its also important to note that Brian Roberts left the game with a bruised shin (I think our Shins are cursed). He fouled a ball of his leg and there is so far no more news about the injury. This game was very Anti-Birdland. I might also add that I feel as though Danys Baez should no longer be used in important situations and Mr. Claw should fill the role that Danys once had at the start of the year.

Umps screwed us.
Huff’s foul tip “strike out” hit the dirt, and Overbay never tagged Mora at first. Weak.
Just because you know how to read, doesn't mean you'll like the book.
It's worth emphasizing umpiring incompetence here
I don’t like to play the “we lost because of the umpires” card frequently, even when it may be justified some times. There may be a key play at an earlier point in a particular game (in any sport) where the outcome was wrong and this sets the game on a different path. That sucks, but you’ve still gotta make the plays that were right. To be sure, even though we did get screwed, Baez has still got to be able to get through the 10th without a meltdown leading to a loss.
But in a game that’s gone into extra innings, where you get not one but TWO of your three outs as a result of umps blowing calls, that really crosses a line. We had a guy on second with no one out, and out of the outs that were recorded, there was Huff’s “strikeout” (actually a foul tip that hit the dirt before the catchers’ mitt, but the home plate umpire wouldn’t get help). Now, I feel like this wouldn’t have been overturned by another umpire because they would have been just as blind. You really had to slow it down to see, but it hit the dirt. Fine, there are missed calls. It blows, but it happens. Nothing to say Huff wouldn’t have struck out on the next pitch anyway.
Then the inning-ending play, you’ve got Melmo at the plate, he does what he does best and hits a routine grounder, but the throw to first base pulled the fielder off the bag and he flailed pathetically at Melmo without actually making any contact. There wasn’t even the appearance of contact between glove and baserunner. Melmo is called out anyway. Inning over, when the rally should have continued. Maybe we would have scored, maybe not, but instead we lost in the bottom of the inning.

Didn't watch the game but have a question
Where was Tremblay when the umps were stealing the game for the Jays?
If he wasn’t out of the dugout in the umps’ faces, then why is he manager?

After Huff's "strikeout" DD was in the umps face.
He just didn’t get tossed from the game.
Joe Flacco's eyebrows have been charged with several penalties this season, most for acting as an "ineligible receiver downfield".
Nice game by Tillman. Umpiring lapses of this kind should happen to the Sawx 'n' Yerks more often. Strangely, they don't...
Oh, and Cito Cucks.

Westie: re Orygun: If they get through the first 4 at 2-2, this is still a 9-3 team. Think Better Than Mediocre Bowl
I mean, tough way to open: Boise away, then Purdue, Utah and Cal at Eugene. But they get SC at home. And if they start 3-1, look out.
Meanwhile, the good news: (1) MLB.com TV seems to have improved considerably: the delays/freezes last night were much less frequent than this spring, when I gave up on TV; and the picture quality is actually quite good. (Too bad the umpiring quality didn’t match it.)
(2) And I get to watch again tonight! Yes, two day games in a row! O Canada! We stand on guard for thee! Well, sitting at the laptop, I mean.
Go O’s!

Tillman
I caught the tail end of his start and his fastball was only at 85-88, was he hurt or something?

It sounded like he was having trouble stretching out his legs or something
Nothing serious. He actually did well once he started working in his other pitches a lot more. It could be a good thing in the long run, he was forced to learn to not rely on his fastball.
My sons, we faioing to win!!!! Come on, now Dave Trembaley, we gots to win tomorrow,
becuse I am going to be there. Plese Matusz gwth thw win!
