Geai Bleu 7, Orioles 3: Chris Ray is baaaaack
We still "love" you Brian. Brian Matusz struggled in the 2nd and 3rd innings of this game, which proved to be a very short start for the young lefty. He pitched well in the first, getting a strike him out throw him out double play. But a couple of walks and the long ball proved to be a real killer for him, as nearly every Blue Jay run came on the HR.
Brian Bass came in for a good 3.1 innings, in some much needed relief. He handed the ball to Matt Albers who was god awful, I mean really bad. He faced five batters, got one out, and gave up two runs. Enter CHRIS RAY! Chris Ray got out of the inning with a weakly hit ball back to the mound and then pitched a scoreless 8th. Maybe, just maybe, Chris Ray is back.

Double plays really hurt the O's early in this game, hitting into two in the first two innings. Still Luke Scott went out of character for one AB with an rbi single, and in the 3rd, Cesar Izturis doubled to capitalize on an error and a stolen base by Robert Andino. After that though with Jones and Markakis up they couldn't get anything more done agianst Halladay. Andino singled in the 5th but was erased by a third O's double play courtesy of Felix Pie. In the 6th after back to back singles with one out, Aubrey Huff did his damnedest to ground into a fourth double play. After the fielder's choice, Melvin Mora brought in a two out RBI, to finish the Orioles' scoring for the day.
This game was destined to be bad from the 3rd, as you cant expect to much offense against Halladay. It's nice to see we didnt get any outfielders hurt on that stupid carpet this time. It's nice to leave Canada and hopefully head back to Birdland. Cito STILL sucks!

Double-A
Josh Bell hit a HR and went 2-3, kind of random but some good news after a loss.

Melvin is demanding we respect him!
But I really don’t and just want his season to end.

Wow, I guess
most fans are upset with the O’s, I myself am, but damn I can’t belive it, there is like no one around this site. As much as I hate what is going on with the team, I will continue to watch and (ugh) support these guys, as I have for so many years. The good thing about sports is there is always next year! Hopefully we will be minus a few anchors….

it's not unusual for people to go away for weekends in august
irrespective of how their team is doing. :)

First loss for my lucky shirt (13-1) : (
It seemed like Matusz couldn’t find the strike-zone today and as a result pitched his way into a bunch of 3-ball counts. His stuff looked nothing like it did in his start against Detroit. He should rebound well…remember, this is his 2nd start in the big-leagues after skipping AAA.
Mora had a good game and I voted for him.

Not to be picky, but Izzy's first name is spelled Cesar.
Just sayin’. And I stopped watching after Millar’s dong, but I’m gonna vote for Izzy. Although second vote would have gone to Ray.

I actually didn't read the recap, as recaps of losses make me sad, I was more talking about the poll.
Is there a way to change the spelling in that?

I will probably get ripped up and down for pointning it out, but spelling isn’t that big of a deal to me.

i don't like it when players' names are misspelled
i don’t really like it when anything is misspelled, particularly in a game recap; but you gotta get the players’ names right.

I dislike improper grammar, punctuation, spelling, etc.
It doesn’t make me crazy. It just bothers me. Is that really so awful?
"He's a gazelle." -Adam Jones on Nolan Reimold.

Absolutely not
Maybe its just because writing is such a big part of my job, but it does bother me. Especially in a fan post, you should be willing to take a little extra time and proofread. Everyone can probably figure out what you mean, but good writing makes your point much more clear. Some grammar rules can be a little nit-picky, but most of them really do serve a purpose.

Plus, most computers today have spell check installed.
Is it really so terribly difficult to go back and fix the underlined word? I don’t think it is. Often when I see a paragraph that has many spelling or punctuation mistakes, I just won’t read it. If I’m going to take the time to read something, you should be able to take the extra minute to make sure everything is correct. I’m not saying it’s against the law to make a mistake here and there, but to consistently do so… not fun. And I don’t mean to be pointing any fingers or yelling at anyone who isn’t a grammar and/or spelling freak. I’m simply giving my input on the subject.

after a while
it stops underlining them, and it says you spell albers and matusz and berken wrong, so pretty soon into the thing it stops.

I’m clerking for a federal judge right now, and you should see some of the terrible writing that gets submitted to the court. Some of those mistakes may very well be illegal lol

Wieters... 0-4 with a GIDP..
There are times when I believe he’s found his stroke, beware all. Then he relapses. Then he goes back to swinging a hot bat. Then he goes through another awful streak.
I’m not worried though. He’s still doing better than Nick did during his first year, and Markakis rules. So I’ll extrapolate this into thinking that Wieters will be even more awesome. Or just as awesome but in a different way.

The thing with Matt is he's really smoking the ball, just not to the right places.
He hits MONSTER that unfortunately go right to someone. He’s hitting the ball HARD, just not lucking out with where it goes. So while the boxscore may read 0-4 or 1-5, the box score doesn’t show the power he’s beginning to show. I mean, he hasn’t gotten his home run stroke yet, but I think it should come soon, especially with him getting more playing time now. The balls will start hitting the grass/exiting the ballpark very soon, I think. I agree that there is no reason to worry. He’ll be fine. And I think Matt’ll be without a doubt way more awesome than Nicky, but first he’s gotta prove it.

No offense, but what are you talking about?
1) It’s not your call as to what Lena should and should not do.
2) She wasn’t correcting anyone, she was expanding on what Y Not said. It’s called a discussion.
3) If you were actually talking about her spelling comments and messed up the reply, I’d kindly remind you that spelling counts even if you don’t think it does.

Spelling was fine.
Punctuation and grammar weren’t. I was simply pointing out that everyone makes mistakes and overlooks certain errors. I hate it as much as the next person but I make mistakes alot as well.
