Around SBN: Explaining Jeremy Lin's Early, Surprising Success

The Orioles will spend a rare Opening Day on the road in 2010, when they will start off their season April 6 in Tampa Bay. Baltimore has spent 16 of the past 18 season openers at home, with 2007 and 1995 standing as the lone exceptions.

There will still be a home opener

I kinda wish that Guts gets his third straight Opening Day start, but let Bergsen pitch the home opener.

BOOOOOOO

The last time the O’s opened on the road in Minnesota, actual Opening Day was gorgeous and 80 degrees, then one week later for the home opener it was 40 degrees and raining. Not that there is any reason that would happen again, but I was so annoyed.

I thought interleague was always within the same division?

The O’s play the Mets, Marlins, Nats, Giants, and Padres?? We played the Mets and Marlins this year! LAME. I was really hoping to see the Dodgers come to Baltimore. I am anti-interleague, but if it’s going to exist I at least like to see different teams coming into town.

And Opening Day is a TUESDAY? What is going on here? And the home opener is a FRIDAY? There are so many things wrong with this!

No

The stupid Mets again.

Also, the O’s and Rays are the only teams that wait until Tuesday to start the season, and there doesn’t appear to be a Sunday night game.

You’re supposed to watch the Sunday night game to get all excited for the season, then get bombarded with every other team on Monday and it’s awesome. Now there’s no Sunday night game and every single team plays on Monday while I have to sit around and wait for the Orioles?

Perhaps I’m overreacting, but I’m totally not amused. I do not like change!

Hm

Now I’m reading the mlb.com article. It says there will be Sunday baseball but it hasn’t been determined by which teams yet. So that makes me feel a little better. Maybe they’ll make it Rays vs. Orioles.

It also lyingly says that it’s the AL East vs NL West in interleague.

Nothing except the fact they played them this year

same for the Marlins.

And we're NOT playing the Dodgers

I think something's fishy...

and I suspect it has to do with the fact that they can potentially get more Met fans into OP@CY than Dodger fans.

Not that the mets are any great shakes, but I did see a good handful of met fans at the series this year.

I really, really, really am disappointed we don't play the Dodgers

I want to see my Dodgers at OPaCY!

This schedule is a bunch of buttnuggets.

On the road on a Tuesday? No Cards at the Yard? I want to see Albert! Or at least Prince! If we have to get our asses whooped by the #10 Overall darft-pick of 2006 when we chose Billy" HOFer" Rowell as the 9th, I want it to be here.

And I think the WS winner plays on Sunday.

Whatever will draw the best ratings

and fits in with the 7 or so times ESPN is allowed to have each team on a national broadcast. Believe it or no, MLB actually limits how many times ESPN can show MFY and PHN.

It seems like every week

I’m watching the friggin Dodgers and Diamondbacks, and the Red Sox. I’m really sick of the Dodgers now.

Is there a reason that we've had 16 of 18 ODs at home?

That seems a bit unfair.

Didn’t they start the O’s at home in case the President wanted to throw out the first ball?

I guess the Nats (or the White Sox) are the preferred destination now.

I wonder if I can bill Jeff Lurie and Peter Angelos for the years of therapy their teams are going to put me through.
