GameThread: Boston Red Sox (86-59) at Baltimore Orioles (60-86), 7:05 PM
Boston Red Sox at Baltimore Orioles, Sep 18, 2009 7:05 PM EDT
Buchholz has been on a tear of late, and has generally dominated the Orioles over his career, including his famous no-hitter when he came up. Also, the Sawx are 13-2 against the Birds this year, so I can't really think of many reasons why you should watch this game. On the plus side, the Orioles faced Buchholz on August 2nd and cleaned his clock (7R, 9H in 4IP).
Defending the honor of Charm City will be Mr. Guthrie, whi has put together a string of impressive starts after a mostly awful year. Oh, except for his most recent start, when he got his a** handed to him in Yankee Stadium this past Sunday.
If you DO decide to watch this game, may I suggest you accompany it with some type of libation? It just might make things a little more bearable for you; perhaps at the very least it will help you to tune out the legions of douchebag PHN fans whom you will hear in the stands today..
Go O's! -zk

I'd like to punch every person in either
a pink Sox hat or it’s dude-equivalent green Twins franchise cap with the damned shamrock on the back.

I really have a problem with the fans of the team from Boston!

I hope that was the result of a lost bet or something.

That’s a little unfair. That game was well within reach when Guthrie left. Here’s the CC recap:
Jeremy Guthrie got knocked around a bit but controlled the damage pretty well, and then the Yankees feasted on two pitchers (Chris Waters and Bob McCrory) who have no business being in the major leagues.

5 runs in 5-1/3 IP
… does not qualify as being effective. IMHO.

The question is...
Should we even bother showing up today?

It's Guthrie so the game will be decided in the first couple of innings

He makes it through one unscathed
Maybe Brooks Robinson in the booth was good luck.

Nice to see Nicky have a good AB for the first time in a while.
Why the fuck is Gutz walking “papi” on 4 pitches???

How close was Markakis' hit from getting out?

Yeah, that was pretty bad
I was thinking we might have a chance to cut down the run… then I saw where the first bounce was.

We really should have.
He fielded the ball before Bay had even gotten to third base.

That was a bad AB.
Take a cockshot fastball for strike one. Take a bad high curve ball for strike two. Swing at a nasty change up low and away to ground out. Ugh.

LUUUUUUUUUUKE!!!!!!
Joe Flacco's eyebrows have been charged with several penalties this season, most for acting as an "ineligible receiver downfield".

God Pedroia gets some fucking ugly hits. Him and Jeter must work out together in the offseason.
by O'sFan21 on Sep 18, 2009 7:46 PM EDT reply actions 0 recs
After Jeter retires we might have to change it to "Pedroiad"

He got so lucky with Ortiz and Yuck.

What VMart doing??
He set up 5 inches off the plate inside – Buckholz hit the glove. What did he expect to happen?

D'oh
Hey Brian…when the guy ahead of you gets on base by way of a four pitch walk, don’t swing at the first pitch.

Or look for a first pitch fastball in the middle of the plate which is what he got. Just missed it.

I tuned out after the 5th
cockail hour out here on the west coast, y’know? Also Guts was looking way to hittable. Nothing on his pitches. We got to see one nice defensive play at the plate to nail Pedroia, but other than that nothing to see really.
