GameThread: Orioles @ Blue Jays, 7:07 PM
Baltimore Orioles at Toronto Blue Jays, Sep 23, 2009 7:07 PM EDT
From MLB.com:
Guthrie ran up a high pitch count in his last start and made a fine art of surviving into the middle innings. The right-hander wound up working into the sixth inning, establishing a new season-high pitch count (114). Guthrie, Baltimore's Opening Day starter in each of the past two seasons, has allowed more home runs (31) and more earned runs (106) than any other American League starter.
Richmond is 0-5 with an 8.92 ERA in eight starts since returning from the disabled list, where he spent a month with a sore right shoulder. The Blue Jays have lost seven of those games. He lasted two innings against the Rays in his last outing, allowing five runs on seven hits. He has given up 22 runs in 17 1/3 innings over his past four starts

I was about the post same thing. Anybody who shows up for this game thread (unconsciously) enjoys being stuck in a dysfunctional relationship.

The sad part is...

I'm not even kidding.
That really happened – probably about twice a year while I was there. One time they came and filmed a little CNN segment and I was on TV for about one second in the background.
It was all very absurd stuff, and everything followed the same script. The university president gave the same speech everywhere. I bet he’s still giving it to this day.
I’m kind of pissed about UMBC’s competitive teams. I was only there earlier this decade and it was our biggest joke ever, entertaining the possibility that one of the basketball teams would make the NCAA tournament. Three years after I’m gone, what happens? One year the women’s team makes it, and the next year the men’s team makes it.
I’m disappointed I missed out on some real excitement instead of chess team crap.

I won't shed a tear
I got to Maryland in fall 1986. Yeah, the semester after Len Bias died. You wanna talk about a half decade of athletic suck? I go to experience all 3 years of the Bob Wade Experience and tried to convince myself that Joe Krivak belonged as a football coach in the ACC. I got to see Maryland lose at home to Morgan State. When does that happen? Oh, wait…. Anyway, good times were had by all. And people ask me why I started drinking in college…

OK, today's lesson
Never, ever, EVVVVVVVVER bet on a single regular season baseball games. Really. It’s like handing a bookie your ATM card and writing down your pin. Even if it’s fake internet money.

Ive probably bet over 5,000 regular season baseball games.
Its true there are big swings and Ive had my share of beatings, but Ive had some incredible runs. I dont think its any riskier than almost any other betting venture out there aside from Texas Holdem.

I know youll think Im lying because all gamblers do. But I actually bet on the Dodgers yesterday and made 400. The bet cost 750 (approx.) to make because they were pretty heavily favored in that game. So I could be up 400… or down 600 for the week if they lose. Drive to DE and put down some real cash on a 3 team NFL parlay
It pays 5.5 to 1 if you it 3 games against the spread.
