That's a great quote
In his locker here are two souvenirs from Baltimore, a Nick Markakis bobblehead and an Adam Jones figure. Hughes is collecting with a purpose. “I don’t want just regular stuff,” he said. “These are funny. Markakis is making a sliding catch, and Jones is jumping and blowing a bubble.” He’s right. The Orioles apparently know how to do give-away nights.

Speaking of

the Adam Jones bobblehead, I have an extra one remaining if any out-of-town CC’ers would be interested. I know there is a slew of them on e-bay, but I figured I would throw it out there for someone who might have missed out on a great giveaway.

We can only hope that when the figure makes the catch he doesn’t hurt himself slamming into the wall!

I was pleasantly surprised

When I got my AJ Bobblehead. I thought for sure it was going to have a tacky-ass Dubble Bubble logo on the base of it. So yeah, the O’s do know how to do giveaways right.

I was suprised too

especially when I opened it and the base was on the outside of the styrofoam, fell, and broke in two. I went to home depot and gave it some steel reinforcement.

Also...

That article from Roch mentions BRob stealing if they throw Nick breaking stuff. He tried a steal in last night’s game (with 2 outs) and was out by a country mile.

Redskins have backed away

per the WaPo, the ’Skins are no longer suing the grandmother.

And yet? Even though the team has dropped all charges against her and has completely let her out of the ten year contract that she signed, she wants free tickets now.

…That year, she tapped an official in the locker room, where the girls dressed before the shows, and asked for season tickets. He obliged. She has held them ever since, purchasing club seats when FedEx Field opened as Jack Kent Cooke Stadium in 1997.

Hill still hopes to get to some games this year. She said she had hoped that Donovan might offer her some tickets.

Um, perspective? Not.

I don’t agree with the ‘Skins suing her, but I’m starting to see another side to this story. It appears she didn’t ask to be let out of the contract before, but rather, she asked for “a waiver of a year or two”. Now that they’ve let her out of it completely, she still thinks she’s entitled to go to games. WTF?

Then you call 'em in and say, 'It's the consensus among us that we're going to let you go back home.' Some of them cry, some get mad, but none of them will leave until you answer them one question, 'Skipper, what do you think?' And you gotta look every one of those kids in the eye and kick their dreams in the ass and say no. If you say it mean enough, maybe they do themselves a favor and don't waste years learning what you can see in a day. —Earl Weaver

She's not as pure as the driven snow on this, for sure

But she also said she never received any letters, called the team numerous times, and even went to FedEx field in an attempt to work something out. The best exchange?

(Pat) Hill said (Redskins General Counsel David) Donovan told her that she should have called him directly. She said she told him: “I didn’t even know you existed. I don’t know you.”

You mean a NFL fan didn’t know the name of the team’s lead lawyer and didn’t instantly pick up the phone and call him when she couldn’t meet her ticket bill? And she calls herself a fan?

I think she’s looking for a lil’ sumthin’-sumthin’ for the hassle, and the team decided letting her off the hook was enough. She’s guilty of bad manners, and the ’Skins are guilty of being greedy jerks.

There's some joke

about the Orioles doing great giveaways and losing so many games, but I can’t quite get to it right now. You all know what I mean, I’m sure.
