Monday Bird Droppings
Ok so today is the most barren Orioles news day I've seen in forever. It's barren all around baseball, actually. When the Astros avoiding arbitration with Tim Byrdak makes the front page of Yahoo's MLB page you know it's a slow day. Here are the few scraps I could find:
Tejada to transition to third base - baltimoresun.com
As we all know, Miggi will be playing third base this year. He talks about the transition here.
Hicks agrees to sell Rangers to Nolan Ryan group
Tom Hicks has agreed to sell the Texas Rangers to a group that includes Hall of Fame pitcher Nolan Ryan. The sides announced Saturday night that they had finally reached an agreement, eight days after a 30-day exclusive negotiating window expired. The group is headed by Pittsburgh sports attorney Chuck Greenberg.
Ruiz agrees to three-year deal with Phils | MLB.com: News
The Phillies agreed Sunday on a three-year, $8.85 million contract with catcher Carlos Ruiz, a source with knowledge of the negotiations told MLB.com.

The Dodgers will travel to Taiwan and play two games against a team from the Chinese Professional Baseball League on March 13 and 14.
Fashion Ump: The worst uniforms of the 1990s
Big League Stew looks at the most awful uniforms of the nineties.
Hopefully more news will pop up as the day goes along. In the meantime, how was everyone's weekend? See any good movies? Enjoy the football games? Anything else you'd like to share?

Worst unis of the 1990s
Am I the only crazy person that thought that most of those uniforms they posted weren’t anywhere near as terrible as I was expecting? Boring, maybe, but not necessarily hideous.
"He's a gazelle." -Adam Jones on Nolan Reimold.
When I think horrible unis I usually think further back than the 90s.

Although this made me laugh.
God bless Rod Beck. He’s still the only Cub to make the walking bear jersey look good. Probably because he looked like the softball player they originally designed it for.

Far and away the worst unis of the 90s,
and probably the worst baseball uniforms ever, have to be the ones worn for “Turn Ahead the Clock” games in 1999.
I suppose MLB imagined a future where we’ve evolved to the point that eyesight was no longer necessary.
The Orioles weren't ugly as much they were boring

I have a baseball card
of Cal that has him pictured in the Turn Ahead the Clock uni and has a piece of the jersey in the card. I guess that is my way of preserving such a successful and treasured day in baseball history!

How can it be the Orioles if it's not orange
Now a futuristic Terminator-style Oriole bird would have been sweet……

Some of them were kind of cool, though. I like KC, Arizona, and Milwaukee.
Ok that's just horrible.
But what can you expect from the Mets?

Turn Ahead the Clock was, I'm pretty sure
An idea started by Ken Griffey Jr. He went all out and spray painted all of the shoes silver.

I think I just saw him take a victory lap past my office with a Natty Boh in each hand, and two more in one of those beer helmets on his head.

Now flipping past MASN
on weekday afternoons won’t be nearly as painful. She really was pretty clueless.
Maybe in order to understand mankind, we have to look at the word itself: "Mankind". Basically, it's made up of two separate words—"mank" and "ind". What do these words mean? It's a mystery, and that's why so is mankind.
-Jack Handey
I go out of town and return to find Miguel Tejada as an Oriole. As Doc Brown once said, “Great Scott!”
Vizzini: Let me put it this way. Have you ever heard of Plato, Aristotle, Socrates?
Man in Black: Yes.
Vizzini: Morons.
More like Streaky Scott. :)
