Ahem: I have BEEN to the Canadian Baseball Hall of fame
Could we maybe send Enos “Country” Slaughter there from Cooperstown in a straight-up trade for Alomar?
Man, would we make out on that one.

From that Stark article:
• Still rocking: The Rockies, from all indications, decided to zero in on Orlando Cabrera over Melvin Mora because of concerns about whether Mora could still play multiple positions in the infield. Of course, Cabrera himself hasn’t started a game at a position other than shortstop since 1998. But the other big component here is the price tag. The Rockies would like to have enough dollars left over to add another bullpen arm. One name high on their shopping list: Kevin Gregg.
His site is down right now, but I’m looking forward to seeing how theWaywardO chronicles this development, as he has been chronicling the Memlo offseason saga.

Appropros of nothing, but
enjoy that SoCal sunshine, Z. Almost 6 inches of snow in Salisbury, and still falling. Expecting around 10, could be as much as 18.
I’ll be teaching until July.

It's only 64° here today. Brrrrr!
But it feels a little warmer in the sun.

Yeah, not so much here
16 degrees and snow still falling…

OH. MY. GOD.
Nestor What’s-his-name is seriously unhinged:
If you’re one of those who can somehow defend the actions, business practices and stewardship of Peter Angelos and the Orioles over the last 13 years, then you’ll probably find a way to refute the facts of the next week in regard to statistical data bearing out that WNST.net is fastest-growing media company in the state of Maryland. You might even be foolish enough to not realize that all of the employees of MASN, CBS Radio, WJZ-TV and Pressbox ostensibly work for him….
Some people are going to get their feelings hurt, but I’m writing a Master’s thesis in how this all works – the business of local sports media in Baltimore circa 2010. Where’s it’s been, where it’s "at" and where it’s going…
I’ve dedicated my entire life – ask anyone who’s ever really known me — to building Baltimore’s ultimate sports information company every day of my life since Jan. 23, 1984 when I was "hired" as an intern for "SportsFirst," a daily train-wreck of a business model newspaper housed by the Hearst Corporation. Honestly, it’s been a strange kind of destiny over the past 26 years since I walked into The News American as a 15-year old intern from Dundalk who couldn’t type, with a pregnant girlfriend, that the world has opened up on the internet to give a guy like me a chance to go toe-to-toe and now surpass "the big boys" and corporate whores who’ve for so long dominated and stilted the way we consume our information about sports in Baltimore.
The internet and the phone that is in your hand or pocket is the ultimate equalizer. EVERYONE has access to WNST.net from anywhere in the world where there is cellphone service. Every day more people find us — on Twitter, Facebook, Google, You Tube, etc. And our website is clearly the best in the market for technology, distribution of the sponsors who keep us in business and the timely distribution of content.
FILTER, dude. Filter. Or hire an editor.
I tried to read the whole thing, but seriously? It’s like listening to that maybe-homeless guy on the corner with the tinfoil hat. I know some of what he’s writing here may be true (i.e., Angelos does own some of the local media), but jeez….delusions of grandeur much?

Talk about having an axe to grind
All the people in the world to rail against and he feels like he needs to call out Ray Frager, who got wiped out in the last round of layoffs at the Baltimore Sun? C’mon, Nestor, the guy doesn’t even have a platform any more. Don’t you have bigger fish to fry?

Man I really dislike this guy
I mean, talk about a self important prick… i’ve never heard one thing from this guy that didn’t come across as completely self serving, arrogant, and downright obnoxious. I thought Colin Cowherd was bad, but at least he doesn’t pretend to be some all knowing sports savior (and he actually has a national platform). Get some perspective buddy.
Signs of spring
Single game tix on sale today for A’s home games. (Nearest AL stadium to me.)
O’s play the A’s on a Thurs/ Fri/Sat/Sun series in April and both weekend games are day games. My wallet is a little lighter but it now has tickets in it.
signs of spring
16 degrees and 5 inches of snow in midtown??
maybe it’ll be spring in a few months. I"m enjoying watching cars go 30mph down I-83 though.
I've got 4 inches

Guys, remember he's only 13 or so....
Yes, we all know what the joke is, and no, we’re not going to repeat it here.
But it would be really fuinny if he was 18 or so.

It was more of a warning to others, actually.

what section are you in?
i may try to get up to one of those games, and if I do, I’ll try to sit near you so we can grab a brew together.

I don't quite understand
why Joe Jordan doesn’t really want to see Hobgood be mentored a bit by Millwood. Isn’t Millwood probably gone after this year?
Maybe in order to understand mankind, we have to look at the word itself: "Mankind". Basically, it's made up of two separate words—"mank" and "ind". What do these words mean? It's a mystery, and that's why so is mankind.

Man, Jayson Stark's main article was really poorly written
If it’s as important as he made it out to be, he shouldn’t feel like he has to put so much fluff in there. Really was hard to get through, and I had to stop and start over a few times.

OT: Obama as college basketball announcer.
Some funny lines here; and he probably would be better than most announcers.

Still, I wish he liked baseball…and replaced Ferd “House Shill” Manfraud, of course.

Hey, wait a minute-- what are you doing up at 2:09 am, young lady?!?
This better be good, or somebody’s parents are going to get a very serious note — and the vice principal’s office may be alerted to some upcoming changes on your Permanent Record.

I'm a grown up, mister
I’ll stay up as long as I like! I’m just 6 days away from being 31, which sounds so much older than 30 to me.

Yup, 31 is ancient, all right. Watch out you don’t go face-down into the mashed potatoes at your birthday dinner!
Wanna know something funny? I can remember when my dad was…29! I was learning numbers, and I remember asking my mom all kinds of numerical things, including peoples’ ages. For some reason she thought it was a stitch when I asked how old daddy was and whether 29 was “more years than she had”.
What’s funnier, of course, is that now I can hardly remember when I was 29…Lessee here, I was still somewhere in grad school, I think. Seriously, most of it is kind of a blur. Anyway, you’ll live through turning 31, trust me. I mean, look at all the mashies on my face.
p.s. Just so you know, I’m still sending a note to the vice principal’s office. Let’s let them decide who’s Ms. All Grown Up and who’s not.
