With leaders Orygun and Snodfart (as well as ASU and UCLA) getting their bye weeks, it’s up to the remaining conf members to show us why we should care about them this Sat. – so let ‘er rip there, scrubinos: your goal, the Upper-End Mediocrity Bowl, is beckoning! And battered Swami Titov, after two kicked-in-the-asre weeks in a row, is looking to do some arse-kicking spread-beating again! Yeah!
Cal @ SC (-2 ½). OK, we’ll get today’s mystery call out of the way first: I dunno. Cal, once again, has shown it has some outstanding athletes – and occasionally they even show up on the same day (CO, UCLA). SC is actually better than I thought in Sept – maybe much better, in fact – but c’mon, pretty much anybody can move the ball against them, in or out of the Coliseum, and a lot. Go with Cal to beat the 2 ½.
Zona (-23 ½) @ Wazzu. Yeah, right – like I’m gonna bet more than a ruble on this. I’m not. But if I were, I guess I’d be forced to go straight-formulaic: bet the dog @ home after a better team’s Big Letdown loss, i.e. WSU (and hello, Palouse) beats the spread here. Easily, actually.
OSU @ U Dub (-1 ½). Hee-hee, things prolly look a little grim in Seattle as the Huskies start a 4-streak against ascendingly ranked teams (OSU-Zona-Stan-OR). I still like Locker, but the team is not as good as it should be; meanwhile Da Beavs are ranked again and picking up steam. Go with the pumpkin eaters to beat/win here, with Jacquizz doing 150.
Bonus Regional Pick o’ the Wick: NEV (-6 ½) @ Hawaii. After a nice shtupping last wk from the suddenly-anemic Aztecs, I’m going back to a regional-game policy of Dealing from Strength, thank you: Given warm weather and loose defense, Kaepernick goes nuts again here, 300-plus TO. HAW can score points, sure, but not enough to win this (unless there’s another tsunami or sth) or beat the 6.5. Fun game to watch (and I hope it’s in HD!)
