Sunday Open Thread
The Phillies either did or did not win. Brock Lesnar either did or did not win. But I can guarantee I won't be up today before 10 am since I went to see UFC 121 at an establishment in Ocean City, so here's your Open Thread.

Back in Baltimore for the day to go to the Ravens game
hoping it makes up for that awful Phillies game last night
Why do I feel like "an establishment" really means "strip club"?

No, no it does not

A few points
First, there are no strip clubs in OC
Second, I wouldn’t go to one if there were
Third, as pointed out below, why would a strip club show UFC fights?

Why would anyone go to a strip club
to watch UFC? That’s a waste of strip club time.

Conspiracy?
Did anyone else notice the obvious delay in showing the last pitch to Ryan Howard on the FoxTracker strike zone? That pitch looked low and not a strike. The obvious delay makes me wonder whether they altered the graphics to show the pitch just touching the lower edge of the strike zone. Could you imagine MLB allowing Foz to display a graphic which shows the last pitch to Ryan Howard should have resulted in a walk and instead eliminated the Phillies?
this
that pitch was waaaaaaayyyy too close to take in that situation
I am feeling either happy or indifferent for Aubrey Huff
No offense, but....ENOUGH WITH THE FIELDER/GONZALEZ TRADE PROPOSALS.
Everyone remember when I was saying that it would a Rangers-Giants world series last year? Yeah, I called a full year in advance! LOL

Question of the Day
Brian Sabean comes to you (for some reason) and offers any one position player on the National League Champion San Francisco Giants except Buster Posey. You can have Huff, or Burrel, or Uribe, or whoever you want except Posey…you just have to give up Chris Tillman. Do you do it?
No offense, but....ENOUGH WITH THE FIELDER/GONZALEZ TRADE PROPOSALS.
I'd lean no. Only Torres and Panda interest me on their roster (aside from Posey, of course)
By getting Torres the O’s would further logjam the OF. But he certainly could be an upgrade over Pie. And I don’t know what to make of Panda. He was great last year and rather pedestrian this year. I’d rather just stick it out w/ Bell at 3rd.

Upon further reflection, an OF of Torres, Jones, & Nick would be pretty sweet.
But if Till were to be dangled as trade bait I’d rather try and match him with a team who has a 1B or 3B ready player, say the Reds and Yonder Alonso, for instance.

Another question
Is it a bad thing that MacPhail’s contract expires in 12 months? My concern is that he will make moves that benefit the short term rather than the long term.
Librarians are hiding something
I don't think of McPhail as the type to make rash decisions due to his contract situation.

So I've been thinking,
since Cliff Lee’s current rotation seems to be: bad team, traded to team that goes to world series, bad team, traded to team that goes to world series, maybe we don’t want to sign him this offseason. If the MFYs sign him then they will be a bad team. Then they will trade him to us at the deadline and we will go to the world series. It all makes sense.

Not sure if this was discussed yet, but Bengie Molina has already won the world series:

Does Chris Ray get a ring either way, too?

I don't know if he made enough appearances. Not sure how the rule works.

I mean if practice squad players get super bowl rings
it’d be a crime to deny Chris Ray a ring…

Pretty sure Adam Eaton got a WS ring for the Phils in 2008.
He pitched in like 21 games. Well, OK, that’s a fair amount for a starter. Still, pretty sure if you played in the season you get a WS ring.

Bad weekend for Philly sports
Phils knocked out of the playoffs and Eagles slapped around like a 2$ hooker at a frat party. I should feel bad but I just don’t.
MUST READ “LET’S LAUGH AT THE STUPIDITY OF YANKEE FANS” NUGGET: from SI Mailbag: “Joe Sheehan believes that there is more to winning the Cy Young than a pitcher’s W-L record, so consider the following: Felix Hernandez is a fine pitcher, but there was very little pressure on him when he took the mound because he played on a team that was going nowhere this season. Where would they be without him? Still in last place? CC Sabathia of the Yankees on the other hand is the marquee pitcher of a team expected to compete in the World Series every year. He is always expected to win the big game, or stop a losing streak, and this year he has been the only really consistent member of the Yankees’ rotation.” (most consistent Yankee = best player in MLB??) “How about considering the intangibles like those at awards time”
Man he just NAILED ever single thing that’s wrong about baseball right now:
1.) intangibles
2.) Yankee sense of entitlement
3.) Small market = worthless
4.) CC Sabathia is a top 3 pitcher
the list goes on…

Not to mention having nobody else reliable in the rotation/bullpen
CC knows he has other guys to pick him up if he has a bad game, so really you can say Felix has more pressure carrying a team by himself.
"You know how I get the safety? No safety so I went to hit Ray, and I lost...BAD" Chad Johnson on trying to block the great #52
CC Sabathia
earned almost 50% of those pressure-packed wins against BAL, CLE and SEA.

I need a little help
I need to find some of Heavy Seas pumpkin beer for the weekend, but I can’t find a single gd bottle anywhere in NoVA. I’m heading to upstate New York on Friday, so I can stop someplace in Maryland to get some…if someone can tell me where they know it is?
No offense, but....ENOUGH WITH THE FIELDER/GONZALEZ TRADE PROPOSALS.
State Line Liquors in Elkton MD. Approx 2 mins off I-95.
Take Exit 109 heading towards Newark, DE. This will put you onto Route 279. State Line Liquors will be on your right approx a mile past the truck stop. I just got some Heavy Seas pumpkin from there the weekend before last. Here is their website if you want to call and make sure they have some on hand:
