Anyone interested in an Opening Night meetup?
The Orioles first day playing baseball is odd this year. For one thing, they're on the road. For another, it's on a Tuesday. In addition to all that it's at night. Weird!
In an effort to make Opening Day a little more Opening Day like, I thought it'd be fun for some of the local Camden Chatters to meet up at a local bar to have some beverages of your choice and watch the O's destroy the Rays.
If that's something you might have an interest in, click the I'm cool button below and maybe post a comment letting me know who you are. If we have a few people interested we'll organize something.

but the home opener is another story completely since I’m moving the fuck out of the Rochester area and into the Chesapeake area in April.
Bedard says he doesn't care and thinks goals are pointless.
i'm moving back to northern va in may

It’s only a 3.5 hour drive

Ha
well Bmore is 3 hours without traffic and Philly is only about 1 hr 45 minutes, so that would save me some time. I get the feeling most of Baltimore wouldnt want to make the trip though.
I don't know about the rest of Baltimore
But I know I don’t want to make that trip.

If there are so many philly people
It sounds like you could have your own Opening Day bar scene.

yeah that's my problem
In one game as a freshman at Miami, Wieters hit a two-run homer in the top of the ninth to put the Yellow Jackets ahead, then pitched the bottom of the ninth for the save. On that day, the God nickname was bestowed. - Sports Illustrated

Get a fake
"There's only one cure for what's wrong with all of us pitchers, and that's to take a year off. Then, after you've gone a year without throwing, quit altogether." -Jim Palmer
I'm 30,
and I get carded at every bar I go to. Apparantly I can still pass for 18.
"I wouldn't mind seeing someone erase my record of hitting into four triple plays" - Brooks
maybe i'm secretly miguel tejada and like 90 years old
everybody gets carded down here (usually) in charlottesville (for obvious reasons), but when i’m home in northern va, i’ve gone many a place and not been carded
by twistedlogic on Mar 22, 2010 11:01 PM EDT up reply actions
I never get carded
But then again, I wear a beard that fills in pretty nicely. My baby-faced friends with patchy facial hair get carded all the time.
Get an older boyfriend

ahaha you are full of good suggestions

Perhaps
for those that don’t want to schlep up to Baltimore, we could do a meeting for those in the DC area. If not, I’d be interested in driving up to Baltimore for this.
Maybe in order to understand mankind, we have to look at the word itself: "Mankind". Basically, it's made up of two separate words—"mank" and "ind". What do these words mean? It's a mystery, and that's why so is mankind.

Allright
We got one down. Anybody else?

full disclosure
I said that without even looking at the calendar so I have no clue whether I’m actually able.
I'm in Arlington. If I'm not able to get up to Bmore, I'd love to do DC.

get your ass out and walk a little
by twistedlogic on Mar 22, 2010 9:25 PM EDT up reply actions
It is a walk.
Just a very very short one. I would even walk all the way up to 4 courts, ragtime, or summers.
I wish that your name started with a D
because 2632/Marianne/Greta does DC doesn’t have the same ring to it as if your name was Debbie.

charlottesville
Is there anyone already in the charlottesville area? Man I’d love to watch a game. After 5 years of that time warner crap in Raleigh I’m kind of deprived.
where at?
alright for people that want to actually do this in baltimore, where are we meeting?
a bunch of the hooligans go to the green turtle at arundle mills quite often for sporting events.
i could go for somewhere in baltimore, canton has a bunch of options and isn’t as crowded as fed hill or fells.
Def want to stay in Baltimore
I mean, that’s where I live and I AM the center of the universe.

Are you in, Phil Rate?

99.9% positive
Just have to decide if I want to bring my Dr. Jekyll (sober) / Mr. Hyde (drunk) friend.
Eastern Shore, anyone?

this is an interesting proposition
If I don’t have to drive I won’t have any excuses. If it’s not within walking distance then I’ll probably make some lame excuse to hide from everyone.
I’m near Mt. Vernon.

Did someone say BAR?
Of course that means I’m in.
by Wieters Wieners on Mar 22, 2010 10:36 PM EDT reply actions
I'm in Rockville
I’m almost certainly going to the game. If there’s a gathering afterwards, I’ll try to stop in for one ’n say hi.
OK, sorry, I was confused.
I guess I’ll be at the chain bar in Town Center to watch the game on TV. If anyone else wants to go, err, that’s cool. And I’m flexible, we can hit the other chain bar. Or the third chain bar. But I really like the first chain bar. Come to think of it, you know, I could even take the Red Line down to Twinbrook, if folks prefer the three chain bars there. It’s different chain bars. We could even look at where Beningan’s used to be.
Sniff, I miss Federal Hill, and Fells Point, and The Club Charles, and The Mt. Royal Tavern, and Sowebo, for $5 AYCD after-hours fun.
I think a lot of us are going to the home opener
This year, the O’s start the season on the road, and this meetup is gonna be a bunch of us watching the game at a bar somewhere in Baltimore.
i'd love to
only… i’m going to the season opener :)
