Around SBN: Knicks Beat Lakers With Familiar Strategy

GameThread: Orioles @ Marlins, 1:05 p.m.

Jeremy Guthrie will try to calm the worries of Orioles fans as he takes the mound today against Ricky Nolasco of the Marlins. Guthrie got torched in his last start, giving up 6 runs on 7 hits and 3 walks in 3 innings. He's been up and down this spring (it's only Spring Training is what I keep telling myself, but sometimes it just doesn't help).

Today's game is being broadcast by both the Marlins radio network, WAXY-790, and the Orioles radio network, 105.7 The FAN. Both are on Gameday Audio and one will be broadcast on XM183 (I'm guessing the Marlins feed since that's the home team)

Baltimore OriolesFlorida Marlins
Nolan Reimold - DH Chris Coghlan - LF
Adam Jones - CF Cameron Maybin - CF
Nick Markakis - RF Hanley Ramirez - SS
Miguel Tejada - 3B Jorge Cantu - 3B
Luke Scott - LF Dan Uggla - 2B
Matt Wieters - C Cody Ross - RF
Garrett Atkins - 1B Gaby Sanchez - 1B
Ty Wigginton - 2B Brett Hayes - C
Cesar Izturis - SS Ricky Nolasco - RHP

You know, I'm not mad at this lineup. If the Orioles are going to start the season with Roberts on the bench they could do a lot worse than Nolan Reimold in the leadoff spot, even if he is kinda gimpy. I'm not crazy about Tejada at cleanup but I'd rather see him there than Izturis leading off, and personally I'd swap Wieters and Scott but it hardly makes a difference.

Ugh, I am analyzing ST lineups. Thank goodness we're only two weeks from Opening Day.

Let's Go O's!

Haha, nice.

Me, too, and also with my own Phillies fan buddy (though I like the Phils, too). I couldn’t believe they weren’t able to beat up on Rich Hill, considering everyone else was and they’d seen him before.

I was also at the game where ZAUN and B-Rob took Madson deep in the ninth. I was rather conflicted at first, but man, that was awesome.

BTW, every time the O’s beat the Phils I send my bud a little text just saying something simple, like “Hey, just thought you should know the Phils lost to the O’s. Again.”

The last time the Phils beat us, preseason or regular, was June 29th, 2006. It’s also the last time we played them before last year, but don’t let that get in the way.

I’m not trying to start some bashing or anything, honestly, but this is the picture of Nolan Reimold they posted with their game recap from Sunday. I guess it’s not supposed to matter if it’s flattering or not, but it’s at least two years old and he appears to have a mullet.

And like I said, I’m not trying to bash them because I think that their site, while not everyone’s cup of tea, is a great resource and community for Orioles fans. But their front page is just so substandard. I know their forums are their bread and butter but they also talk up their content a lot, they have people who do a lot of good writing, but their front page looks like it hasn’t been updated since 1997.

Which I find odd, because if I were to try to judge I’d probably have Nick up there. She still loves B-Rob and she thought Tillman and Matusz were cute, but Wieters is her fave. I dunno, ask her.

Nick is hit or miss

When he’s cleaned up he’s amazing but left to his own devices, well, we’ve seen the results.

I wasn’t even considering Matusz or Tillman. I think BriBob, Nick, AJ, Reimold are all definitely more attractive than Wieters. Actually when he’s mullet free I put Luke above him as well. Tillman also, maybe. I think Brian Matusz looks 12. The unheralded hottie of the Orioles, though, is definitely Jim Johnson. He never gets any recognition but he’s quite the looker. Such is the life of being the setup man in Baltimore, I suppose.
