GameThread: Twins @ Orioles, 7:05
The big news about tonight's game is of course the spring debut of Brian Roberts. The goal is for him to play five innings and get three at bats, followed by crossed fingers that he won't wake up tomorrow unable to move (I assume).
Pitching for the Orioles is Chris Tillman. This will be his fifth start of the spring. So far in 12 innings he has allowed 5 ER, 2 HR, and 5 BB while striking out 6. He pitched 5 innings his last time out so look for him to try to extend past that today. Scott Baker will take the mound for the Twins. Baker is having a brilliant spring as he's allowed just 1 ER in 14 innings and striking out 12 against only 2 walks.

Craig Tatum - C |

Chris Tillman - RHP |
Brock Peterson is an awesome name. But it doesn't sound like a baseball player. It sounds like it should be either, "Brock Peterson, Attorney at Law" or "Brock Peterson, Private Eye."
The O's made some cuts this afternoon, optioning Michael Aubrey, Brandon Snyder, Josh Bell, and Rhyne Hughes to AAA Norfolk and Pedro Florimon to AA Bowie. Jonathan Tucker, Dennis Sarfate, Frank Mata, and Josh Perrault and been reassigned to minor league camp. That leaves the Orioles with 37 players on their ST roster.
Let's Go O's!

I hope Atkins was watching
because Luke Scott showed him how its done

I'm at this game right now
How I’ve missed baseball. Scott is looking pretty ok at first but I’m thinking he needs to stick to dh. Scott Moore looked real sloppy at 3rd in practice. Wiggington look amazing in practice. I was surprised. Tillman is doing ok. But his control is all over 2 walks and a hr..

I talked to him after that.
He signed my shirt, he seemed ok.

The Twins broadcasters are cracking me up
I’m not sure who they were talking about, but the one guy was really upset that some player had come onto the field wearing oakley sunglasses. Oh – and the same player had been hanging out with the guy’s daughter.

I hope Tillman becomes more than a 5 to 6 Inning pitcher.
The 6 is fine unless you’re hitting 7 too.

I'd be fine with it if he's getting people out
Clayton Kershaw has been a 5-6 inning pitcher most of his career so far, and it is working out well. Tillman’s what, 21? I’m willing to let him grow into a 7 inning guy for a few seasons.

Yeah, that's what makes me hopeful
The kid is only turning 22 in April and hasn’t had a full season yet. He has a lot of time to grow.

So Tillman was charged with 2 ER in 4.1?
Eh, not great, but he IS our 5th starter.

Last AB for Roberts?

First 3 ABs of the spring?
I’m not worried.

Obviously, if the team wants to win games, they'll play Wigginton.

Yeah, in top sixth, I noticed the Orioles top 4 hitters were all 0-2

no but i'm sitting next to official mlb scorekeeper
figured out mystery of why mlb.com boxscores lag - it’s because i think the stringers are phoning them in every half-inning
those scorecards never have enough room to fit all ot substitutions
keeping score at NL games is ridiculous too

I don't like anything but the Outside Pitch.
I hate anything else, even the official Orioles scorecards with rather large-ish blank squares. I just don’t see how III is a triple. I like shading in bases for hits and lines for non-hits.

but yeah, Outside Pitch would probably fail in ST
an NL game too, possibly.

it makes a rhombus rather than a square though.
Outside Pitch is cool. I know thems names. Especially David, I know that Outside Pitch Guy. And he knows me.
