El Grande Lineup Sweepstakes
This is a game. The rules are open to finessing.
Premise: pick your favorite lineup and predict the game that it starts. closest wins. a giant heaping bowl of win.
here is me:
Roberts
Markakis
Jones
Weiters
Reimold
Tejada
Scott
Atkins
Izturis
Game: 34
as an aside. I am keen to buy a jersey, road unis. mlb offers it at $165. seems crazy exorbitant. but the replicas seem kinda janky. what you got to say about that? also I want it to be jones. seems risky, with his future allegiance undetermined and all.

That is my favorite lineup in all of baseball.
It is beautiful. With the caveat I know nothing about Atkins, aside from his stats. Never seen him. Heard some things about his teeth.
I love the bench too. favorite bench in all of baseball.
Things are getting out of control. How many more days do we have? enthusiasm must be tempered.
I know DTrembs is going to force Tejada at clean-up. And we will probably even see izturis in the 2 before we glimpse Weiters in the 4.
How about the Three? Who is the three hitter in this group?
I'm to lazy to find what game it is, but it's the first sunday

BTW, I’m pretty sure Aj will stay in Baltimore, he really cares about Baltimore, or at least that’s what his tweets say.
In one game as a freshman at Miami, Wieters hit a two-run homer in the top of the ninth to put the Yellow Jackets ahead, then pitched the bottom of the ninth for the save. On that day, the God nickname was bestowed. - Sports Illustrated

i think i like this best
Roberts – 2B (.360)
Reimold – DH (.360)
Markakis – RF (.360)
Weiters – C (.350)
Jones – CF (.340)
Scott – 1B (.345)
Tejada – 3B (.335)
Pie – LF (.330)
Izturis – SS (.300)
provided that Reimold continues to take pitches and pick up walks, Jones doesn’t keep swinging at crap low and outside, and it isn’t too much to stick wieters 4th at this point in his career. we also take a hit at 1B on D, but pick up some outfield D with Pie in left.
i’ve also taken the liberty of throwing some OBP projections in there. i think i was conservative – any of the top 4 guys could go off for .395 and i don’t see any of them dropping much below what i projected.
just eyeballing it, what are we looking at? a .340 team obp? .345 would have tied us with minnesota at 4th. i think it’s achievable. of course, there isn’t a ton of power in that lineup… and our bench could be horrific again.
