Basically

Though I expect Luke will be DH’ing and Kakes will be playing RF instead of Nolan. I most certainly do not like Tejada and Atkins at 4 and 5 though.

Duh, you're right

I think Reimold in RF makes sense.

If Markakis needs an occasional day off, I think Reimold is the best one to take his place. He was a RFer in the minors. Good to get him one game out there this spring.

by fuddnelson on Apr 2, 2010 1:06 PM EDT up reply actions

Sure

but Nick played 161 games in ‘07 and ’09 and 157 in ’08. I don’t think it’s going to matter much. If Nick gets injured (knock on wood) then Nolan should in RF would make sense, with Pie in LF.

not that i wish harm on the mfy (ok i do)

but is it just me or does anyone else feel the yankees are a hip replacement away from 3rd place this year?

by Philly O's on Apr 2, 2010 12:44 PM EDT reply actions

I think it's going to take more than 1 player going down

to make them fall drastically. I honestly think the top 3 spots are kind of a crapshoot though. I could see MFY, PHN, and the Rays all finishing 1st, 2nd, or 3rd. Odds are the Yanks take it though. Disgusting.

by daveh873 on Apr 2, 2010 12:55 PM EDT up reply actions

Yea

but I don’t think Posada is going to be out all that long. They are talking about him maybe missing opening day, not missing anything more then a couple days. Cervelli is a backup. They could lose him all year and it wont really matter.

by daveh873 on Apr 2, 2010 1:18 PM EDT up reply actions

re:Cervelli

my Yankee-loving girlfriend’s dad is absolutely convinced that Cervelli is the glue that binds the Yankees. It’s terrific.

That's awesome

Intangibles can be even stronger when utilized from the bench.

He’s got a point though. The Yankees were never any good until Cervelli made the team.

This is a man

who, when I told him that “the biggest stars in free agency don’t sign with losing teams” in response to him telling me the “Orioles should simply spend more money”, told me “Sure they do. Look at Mark Teixeira.”

I had to read that a couple times to understand it

I guess if you miss the playoffs once over a 15 year span that counts a s being a losing team.

More Trembley goodness

So you wonder why the Orioles keep wearing their home whites in Sarasota?

“We’re the Baltimore Orioles. It’s about pride. This is the major leagues,” Trembley said.

Trembley wants fans to see the team in its normal attire, not batting practice jerseys and caps. He also thinks the regular uniform looks better on television and in photos.

Girardi is a grade-A douche

Everything about him pisses me off. I think I could easily use bannable terms to describe him without blinking an eye, and I wouldn’t feel like an asshole about it.

I felt he was a damn good announcer

before he was a manager, he did a couple broadcasts for YES and was pretty good. But man, I just can’t stand the guy as a manager (he tends to overthink the game) or as a Yankee (though I guess that’s typical)
