Baltimore Orioles lose to Seattle Mariners, 4-1 - baltimoresun.com
Zbrebiec's game recap is here. Do we really need 4 accounts of the same lousy game? -duck

O's struggle to support Millwood in Seattle | orioles.com: News
"Words can't explain how frustrated we are as team and myself personally," said DH Luke Scott, who went 0-for-4 on Wednesday and is now hitting .170." Well, numbers sure can, and they stink. -duck

Trembley wants to see more from players | orioles.com: News
"It's not OK at all. I'm tired of covering for them," Trembley said.
"Why were you covering for them in the first place?" zknower replied.

The Schmuck Stops Here: Orioles: Free falling
"The Orioles offense remains in a state of suspended animation. Trembley put Lou Montanez in the leadoff spot and Lou singled in each of his first two at-bats against tough M's pitcher Felix Hernandez (17-2 in his last 19 decisions), but Ty Wigginton followed each of those hits with a double-play ball." Of course he did. -duck

The Schmuck Stops Here: Orioles: Not Adam, too!
"It's pretty obvious that Adam Jones hurt his right arm when he fell down in the batters box in the top of the fourth inning. He has been opening and closing his right hand in center field and rubbing his elbow and bicep." At this point, if I'm an O's positional player, I'm hiring a food tester and someone to cut my meat for me. This is getting ridiculous. -duck

Maybe, just maybe, DT is seeing the light
He’s swinging at way too many bad pitches,” Trembley said of Jones. “I probably did him a disservice by introducing him to Rickey Henderson the other day in Oakland. I told Rickey Henderson, ‘I’d like Jones to impersonate Rickey Henderson a few times and get us on the board with a leadoff homer.’ Rickey Henderson is the best in the world at doing that, and I think Jones is thinking that he’s got to do that. He’s a great kid. If they throw him a strike, he’ll do what he can do with it. But you can’t do that if you’re swinging at pitches in the dirt or over your head.

nice video

i have always been a fan of ricig’s work in general, but i just don’t like his birds at all. they’re way over-drawn, and he spells out a joke for you instead of letting you see it.

the old bird, which i grew up with obviously, was a quick-glance kind of thing. it was really simple—the bird was either joyful or depressed, and there would be a smidgen of something in the drawing to indicate the team we’d been playing, and anything else relevant (like a streak or a long game).

but different strokes for different folks, i guess. glad the Sun brought the bird back, in any case.

Just to make sure....

You do know that was PEDRO Viola we signed, right? Sarcasm’s hard to detect with a lack of capitalization and punctuation.

Calling it one of the greatest films of all time is overrating it, sure

but that doesnt mean it isn’t worth a rental. It was worth watching for sure. Especially if you have a blu-ray player.

Should have seen it in 3D

Not sure how well it holds up in 2D on a TV screen.

probably the only time you'll ever see this...

So anyone here on the east coast who watched the game on MASN would have seen that the MASN viewership was split between who the player of the game was. 45% for Felix 10% for Jack Wilson and 45% for Louis Montanez.

better than when it used to be 15 minutes a pick

Top 6 were pretty chalk and boring anyway, cleveland is where it starts getting interesting.

by kba26 on Apr 22, 2010 8:12 PM EDT up reply actions

yea true

if i dont fall asleep before that. some of this crap is boring. jon gruden has about 100 players in the first round. every player they talk about is gruden’s favorite player or one of the top players in the draft.

by twistedlogic on Apr 22, 2010 8:15 PM EDT up reply actions

i love spiller

i think that was a great pick for them

by twistedlogic on Apr 22, 2010 8:37 PM EDT up reply actions

I like spiller too

but not not on that team. First, Buffalo has much much bigger needs than running back. Second, they have an awful offensive line. For a running back that relies so heavily on turning the corner, he’s gonna get killed.

by kba26 on Apr 22, 2010 8:40 PM EDT up reply actions

yea possibly

i wanted spiller on the redskins

by twistedlogic on Apr 22, 2010 8:40 PM EDT up reply actions

i know

i have no idea whats going on with these picks now. denver and sf just flipped too.

by twistedlogic on Apr 22, 2010 8:42 PM EDT up reply actions

why the hell did they have to trade up to get that guy?

i know denver wanted to move back, but why give up a 4th round pick to trade up for a guy you didnt need to trade up for?

by twistedlogic on Apr 22, 2010 8:46 PM EDT up reply actions

Davis has been shooting up some draft boards

and Denver could use a tackle. SF apparently really wanted him and denver either threatened to take them himself, or had someone else on the other line who would.

by kba26 on Apr 22, 2010 8:50 PM EDT up reply actions

but someone else could have

say the ravens (not that they would, but for example) called the broncos and offered to trade up and take him. Denver may have called SF and offered to let them beat the offer.

by kba26 on Apr 22, 2010 8:56 PM EDT up reply actions

Interesting pick by the Eagles

at least 2 or 3 players i would have rather have. And if they really loved Graham, its unlikely the Eagles had to move all the way to 13 (if at all) to get him

by kba26 on Apr 22, 2010 9:00 PM EDT up reply actions

Seriously... he's worse than Joe Lunardi doing bracketology

They spend a hundred hours with his face all over the cameras saying where everyone will be seeded for the NCAA tourney and outside of the 4 number 1s and the 4 numbers 2s that EVERYONE already knows, he might as well be flipping coins.

These assholes need to stop wasting our time. Just analyze the picks as they come…. quick guessing.

by Wieters Wieners on Apr 22, 2010 8:41 PM EDT up reply actions

the sad thing is

he’ll be talking about next years draft by sunday.

by twistedlogic on Apr 22, 2010 8:43 PM EDT up reply actions

yea hes a fucktard

he spends 99 percent of the time defending his shitty-ass projections. gets paid a ass-ton to do that tho. shut the fuck up mel. your projections mean diddly squat.

by twistedlogic on Apr 22, 2010 8:40 PM EDT up reply actions

I have NEVER been a fan of any draft

I just cant get into it. I mean, its on… Im watching it in and out, but it does nothing for me because of the large percentage of busts, and players in the late rounds actually being good. I mean Bradford could very well end up never having a significant impact in the NFL…. and some 8th rounder could be the next Brady. It all seems like Fool’s Gold.

That being said, I would have taken Suh #1 every day of the week. He’s a monster.

by Wieters Wieners on Apr 22, 2010 8:27 PM EDT reply actions

well you dont have to watch it

you could watch reruns of O’s games! but seriously, soccer on espn2, hockey on VS, basketball on TNT…..law and order is probs on USA

Pete Carroll wasnt awful the first time,

He made the playoffs 2 of 4 years, and has a career winning record. He had the bad luck of high expectations after taking over for a legend. He wasnt a great success by most measures, but he’s unfairly grouped in with the college coaches who washed out in the NFL.

by kba26 on Apr 22, 2010 9:09 PM EDT up reply actions

Well.... [

It took Carroll two years to destroy a Super Bowl team, and after he left, it took the Patriots two years to win a Super Bowl.

by Wieters Wieners on Apr 22, 2010 9:12 PM EDT up reply actions

Destroy?

They went from 10-6 to 8-8 in his 3 years. Thats well within the margin of error for a season. He was no great coach, but he wasnt as awful as most of the college guys.

by kba26 on Apr 22, 2010 9:14 PM EDT up reply actions

1996 – Pats Super Bowl Team
::Carroll takes over::
1997 – AFC East TITLE
1998 – Lost in 1st Round
1999 – Didnt make the playoffs
::Carroll fired::
2002 – Super Bowl Champs

I’d say if not “destroy” thats a precipitous downward spiral
