The good news: this is one of the least logic-defying columns by WaPo Chuckles in years, I'll bet. It's not Angry Chuck, Irrational Chuck or, the most frequent variety, Angrily Irrational Chuck, whose strenuous attempts to solder an acceptable edge onto various right-wing nutbar positions (e.g. US nuclear policy is "either insane or ridiculous") allows the WaPo to present itself as, y'know, all *inclusive* 'n' everything. At least G. Will, sometimes called "America's finest 17th century mind," can actually write, doesn't disingenuously cherry-pick (or as often, anyway) -- and is a legit ball fan: "Men at Work" is very good (and I think GW wrote, or at least edited, Cal's HoF speech) .
Nope, here you get Dr. Chuckles the Baseball Fan, and a fan who's learned to accept, and indeed love, the art of losing. Apparently he dropped the Sawx too soon, hee-hee. Anyway, Chuck's in deep with the Gnats, Lord love 'em, which is kind of like buying a Russian car: you get what you deserve. Nice ride, Chuck!
