Did anyone else know that Arena football's back?

I thought the league was just dead.

In one game as a freshman at Miami, Wieters hit a two-run homer in the top of the ninth to put the Yellow Jackets ahead, then pitched the bottom of the ninth for the save. On that day, the God nickname was bestowed. - Sports Illustrated

I don't think the leage was dead,

they just took a year or so off because of lack of funding or something.

"I’d like to be 29, 6-foot-3 and have a full head of hair," Trembley said. "The reality is, realignment is not going to happen. So we’re going to have to deal with it."

duck: I hope your daughter's team's pitcher is entering the girls' PH&R contest 'cause...we may actually NOT NEED HER this year!

She broke my big toe last weekend

Chipped part of the bone off with a low fastball. She’s throwing on the low 50s now, which ain’t bad for a 13 year old.

Not that I don't trust your expertise

but I had to check with my girlfriend who teaches pitching in New York and she said a good 13 year old would throw 50ish with a fastball, change, and one other pitch (she teaches the rise third). So, good for you duck — sounds like you’ve got a nice little pitcher on your hands there.

Fastball, curve, and working on a change

She’s got a natural wrist turn on her delivery – cuts away from RH hitters.

Um, say, can I take back the part about not actually needing her this year...?

Look, let’s get some ink on some paper please — like next week. C’mon, if she were Dominican somebody woulda signed her last year. And the name “Boras” better not enter this conversation!

if lugo shows himself to be competent in early looks, look for roberts to get some time at DH / leadoff with lugo at 2b hitting lower in order

brianbob at DH

That’s a great idea. Soembody get Diamond Dave on the phone.

it makes especially good sense to me if you have Pie on the pench because — and this is getting granular — but if lugo gets on late in a game either via walk or hit you can bring in Pie to run and slide Brob from dH over to 2b

by thewaywardO on Apr 3, 2010 10:40 AM EDT up reply actions

Of course

you’d lose the dh for the rest of the game, correct? It might not matter late in the game unless you tie it up, but it’s something they’d have to think about.

by daveh873 on Apr 3, 2010 10:44 AM EDT up reply actions

you would, yes

so maybe not the best scenario unless you’re playing at home for the win

i’m just getting my mind around the idea but i really like it mainly because lugo gets on base pretty well

by thewaywardO on Apr 3, 2010 10:52 AM EDT up reply actions

Well

you always could put in Wiggs for Pie if you fail to score, which would keep the DH (and BriBob’s bat) in the game. You’d use up 2 bench players quickly but it’d be a nice fallback if they were afraid of losing the DH in extras.

Lugo gets on base pretty well ?

Perhaps he was brought in as a back up for our injured leadoff hitter? The fact that he is tolerable as a 2B or SS is great and certainly better than Andino. But the fact that he could fill in as lead off hitter is key. The next question is whether he is better than Izturis on a daily basis. I doubt it. His offense might be a little better, but not his D.

Chad Moeller signed with the MFY

I guess with Cervelli and Posada both hurt, that’s where he’s got the best chance to play right now.

2 weeks, 2 injuries

Off to a great soccer season so far. Broke a tooth last week and managed to badly strain my quad today warming up. Didnt even make it to game time before hurting myself.

This ticket is an awesome display of the utter fail that is the Expos organization.

All the poor girl wanted to do is root for her favorite Natinal, Ryan Zimmerman. Then some douche had to punch her in the head.

Apparently it was part of a bigger picture

and it got chopped up for use on the tickets. I guess it was a guy cheering next to her, but that sure is a crappy cropping job.

ahahahahahahahahahaha

The guys in the Kremlin’s Dept. of Disappearing People from Historical Photographs were about this good at cropping!

  1. ain’t bad. It’s a hell of a lot better then I thought I would do with my non-existant basketball knowledge. Congrats Brian. Wieters proves his omnipotence once again.
