It's Opening Day. Finally. Finally.
I feel like it's taken forever to get here this year, but today is finally Opening Day for your 2010 Baltimore Orioles. The game isn't until 7 p.m. so we still have a long day ahead of us before the O's take the field at The Trop. Luckily I'm not working today so I don't have to deal with the long wait to get home. All I have to do today is think about baseball. And maybe get a pedicure.
Hey! Don't forget that we're meeting to watch the game tonight. Check out the details in the Fan Post and if you think you might meet us, let me know. I'm confident that it's going to be a blast.
Today is a day when I'm excited. I don't even care about all the other stuff that normally bothers me about the team. I don't care that they're gonna lose a bunch of games or that Garrett Atkins is on the team. I only care that baseball is back and that I'm going to get to see Brian Matusz and Matt Wieters and Adam Jones and Nick Markakis and Brian Roberts and Felix Pie and Nolan Reimold and Brad Bergesen and oh, what the hell, Miguel Tejada.

Now that I know
what its like to open a season on a sunday, monday, and now tuesday, I’ll just say I prefer monday.
Maybe in order to understand mankind, we have to look at the word itself: "Mankind". Basically, it's made up of two separate words—"mank" and "ind". What do these words mean? It's a mystery, and that's why so is mankind.
-Jack Handey
Personally...
I’d prefer Sunday, but that’s just because of what being the team that opens on Sunday implies.
"Chicks who dig home runs aren't the ones who appeal to me. I think there's sexiness in infield hits because they require technique. I'd rather impress the chicks with my technique than with my brute strength. Then, every now and then, just to show I can do that, too, I might flirt a little by hitting one out." - Ichiro Suzuki

Professional Tip of the Cap
Let the “Brandon Snyder and Josh Bell are coming” season begin. I think we will hear that more often than Dempsey talk about what his playing days were like.

Why not Snyder?
Before Josh Bell he was the one we were all talking about rushing to the major leagues.

Same here
For me snyder was talked about for the same reason sub par prospects were hyped up in the past. Because they were the best of a mediocre bunch of prospects.

When I take Atkins into consideration
I’d like to see Snyder sooner rather than later.

I would put money down that
Atkins would do better at the MLB level this year than snyder, and atkins is going to be real bad

I can deal with someone being bad while enduring growing pains
but established bad with no future on the team is harder to swallow.
I’m not a big proponent of of Snyder’s, but I think he can be useful in the future. Atkins is probably just going to infuriate me. Prove me wrong, Garrett.

Because I took off
I’d be going in late to work anyway because of the radio, and since the weather is going to be so gorgeous I decided to just take off the entire day.

Anyone in DC know a good bar to watch the game at?
I just moved to Mt. Pleasant last week and don’t have cable set up yet. I figure someone on here would have good suggestions, right?
Oh, I love Mt. Pleasant
I’m jealous.
I just moved to the area too, though. So, I can’t give you any recommendations, sadly.

There are a million bars down in Adams Morgan
That’s the extent of my DC bar knowledge. Take metro to Adams Morgan, get drunk, take metro home.
Yes!!!

This is how I feel today:
“The one constant through all the years, Ray, has been baseball. America has rolled by like an army of steamrollers. It has been erased like a blackboard, rebuilt and erased again. But baseball has marked the time. This field, this game: it’s a part of our past, Ray. It reminds of us of all that once was good and it could be again.”

This has been my go-to baseball quote this week:
“People ask me what I do in winter when there’s no baseball. I’ll tell you what I do. I stare out the window and wait for spring.”
Can finally stop staring.
“I believe in the Church of Baseball. I’ve tried all the major religions, and most of the minor ones. I’ve worshiped Buddha, Allah, Brahma, Vishnu, Siva, trees, mushrooms, and Isadora Duncan. I know things. For instance, there are 108 beads in a Catholic rosary and there are 108 stitches in a baseball. When I heard that, I gave Jesus a chance. But it just didn’t work out between us. The Lord laid too much guilt on me. I prefer metaphysics to theology. You see, there’s no guilt in baseball, and it’s never boring… "
Too sexy for my hurt.
Go Orioles. Beat the Rays. Who’s the opening day starter? Millwood?

I definitely think that I'm going to make Opening Day pedicures a tradition
