Rangers 4, Orioles 3: The kind of loss you can't wait to forget.
10 men left on base.
2 errors, including botching a Rangers sac bunt.
1 delicate flower wilting in the Texas heat.
6 great innings by Guthrie wasted as he was inexplicably taken out after just 90 pitches.
6 relievers.
3 hits and 3 RBIs by Cesar Izturis of all people.
A walk off Rangers win.
The end.

90 pitches?
That’s a WTF right there.

Here's my DDDWTF Moment
It was not the intentional walk to load the bases in the seventh. It was the lack of an intentional walk in the 9th. With the go ahead run on second and no outs, you need the double play. In the end it didn’t matter because of the bullpen. Apparently protecting a one run lead in the 7th is more important to DD than protecting the game in the 9th.

You make being an O fan bearable!!
Cesar has sucked so much with the bat
i call this 3 hit game nothing more than a necessity of chance and statistics. Good 90-pitch outing, Guts.
From The Sun story
“That’s the hardest I’ve worked all season,” said Guthrie, who failed in his bid to win his third straight start but watched his ERA drop to 3.86. “I just remember looking up there after the third inning to see where I’m at and it just felt like I had thrown much more than I had. It was taxing. Those guys are good hitters, and you get people on base and have to struggle out there and be in the stretch all those pitches. It was a taxing game, for sure.”
Guthrie had thrown 90 pitches, the fewest in any outing this season, when Trembley conferred with pitching coach Rick Kranitz, who had talked to Guthrie, and decided to go to the bullpen. The Orioles’ lead didn’t even make it through one inning.
“Kranny told me that he wasn’t doing real well, wasn’t feeling real well,” Trembley said. “I know he pitched very well when he was in there. He just said that he couldn’t go anymore.”
Long story short, Trembley says Guts asked out.

It sounds almost Bedardian.
Kinda wish he’d have told Kranny he was touching cloth.

Man up, Guts, we needed the win. I was worried that he was injured but he was “taxed?” If his fatigue was affecting his pitches, sure. But it didn’t appear to be.
Cesar getting 1 RBI, much less 3 is birdland

Unless Guthrie pulled himself, this is clearly the WTF? moment of the game.

What does?
“Delicate Flower wilting in the Texas heat?” mean. I missed the game.

Koji was sweating like a pig after 2 pitches
Removing his hat and wiping his forehead after every pitch, he looked spent after the first batter.

Thanks
Wait a second. But wasn’t it only supposed to be in the mid 80 ’s at game time last night. Nevermind. I get it.

It was 81 degrees, but humid, when Koji came in
MASN made a point to show the temp after the 10th time Koji took off his hat.

Oriole fan living in Dallas
I only get to see the O’s once or twice a year now that I live in Texas, but man, was that game depressing. I’m not sure I can make myself go again tonight. Most Ranger fans spent the game giving me sympathetic looks. You know you’re nearing bottom when the Rangers fans, a group that has never even seen a playoff series win, feel bad for you.
The only positive from last night was that it was dollar hot dog night.

Is it sad that I wasn't that disappointed about the loss last night?
After this year…its almost expected.

Yeah, last night wasn't 'disappointing' so much as it was foreseeable
once DD stated making his trips to the mound. (You’d think Dave would have lost some lbs. with all the walking to and from the mound he’s done so far this year)

That's what made it depressing
I made a bet in the fourth inning that the pen would blow the save (so at least I got a beer out of the deal). It was like watching a car accident in slow motion: predictable, unavoidable, yet horrifying when you actually witness it in person.

No Dave's Crazy Shit today?
Dude used the whole bullpen in three innings! He intentionally walked a dude! What gives?

Yeah I know
I realized at about 2 a.m. last night that I wouldn’t be able to write anything this morning bc of work obligations, and the other two couldn’t cover on such short notice. Feel free to throw up a late edition if you want :)
I do have an intentional walks post in the works, probably will post tomorrow.
Wouldn't be able to get it up until the game probably
Which is for the best, I guess, since I didn’t see any of the game past the second inning.
