Moore v Aubrey
Current lines at Norfolk, per the Tides stat page:
Player POS G AB R H 2B 3B HR RBI TB BB SO SB CS OBP SLG AVG OPS E
Scott Moore 3B 34 123 20 34 6 1 5 23 57 9 24 2 0 .324 .463 .276 .787 8
Michael Aubrey 1B 31 106 11 27 10 1 3 9 48 10 12 0 1 .322 .453 .255 .775 2
A rough OPS wash at the plate, but hey, Moore can make those errors at all 4 positions.
Has there ever been a cooler Oriole than Eddie Murray? I mean, just straight up cool. Like a bad, suave dude. You know what I'm sayin'. COOL. SC 7/24/08
Seriously
Moore looks like a terrible defensive liability on the left side of the field. Right side seems alright, but based on a small sample.

Are the Nats really "generating interest?"
They’re still drawing next to no one, especially considering that they’re playing in a brand new ballpark, have a semi-competitive team, and play in one of the most financially secure cities in the country.
"There's only one cure for what's wrong with all of us pitchers, and that's to take a year off. Then, after you've gone a year without throwing, quit altogether." -Jim Palmer
attendance usually lags behind success by a year or so
If their TV ratings are up, though, that definitely shows more preliminary interest in the team. I can’t imagine what the O’s ratings are like right now.
Outs in baseball are like lives in Mario.
I'm going to have to go ahead and guess terrible.
Maybe they need to air a few more “Who will own it?” commercials to drum up some interest.

MASN really needs to focus group their commercials. Most all of them are bad. (Maximum Izturis?) If they already do focus groups, they need to find a way to not populate them with idiots.

I think they look great. But if I have to see that damn “what comes in fast goes out far” commercial ONE MORE TIME…. SOMETHING SOMETHING GO CRAZY
I wanna be Luke Scott's bat!
Or maybe his sunglasses.
Ugh.
Remember the Nick Markakis "honeybear’ and Adam Loewen “drop and drive” commercials? Those I dug. The player commercials for this year were lame.
Having a guy that can play 4 positions almost seems like a bad thing right now.
Just more options for DT to play Roster Whack-a-mole with.
Bring Aubrey, he’s the First baseman. Done.
If anyone really needs a break, we’ve got BSB….
"Ohhh it's baad" - E. Smith
bringing aubrey up only makes sense
no, Scott is the first baseman – no DH… anyway you need more bench players and positional flexibility without the DH, because of double switches, more frequent pinch hitting…
Nationals success is a boon for....
Angelos’ money coffers. Increased MASN revenue helps the financial picture for the sagging O’s. That’s a boon for Angelos and the O’s financials as they watch their own fan base dwindle. Any MASN uptick in revenues means squat for the Orioles fans as long as the franchise continues to wallow in dysfunction.
I think we got another clear indication of how Angelos measures success.
I don't see why Peter Angelos can't make more money...
…while the Orioles still get better and provide a more enjoyable experience in a variety of ways for the fans.
To be understood is to be a prostitute. ~ Fernando Pessoa
He can, but so they know how?
My guess is that for years now Angelos has seen the team finish in the black while the team has sucked. Inertia set in and it was much easier to maintain the status quo and just try to stop the consecutive year losing streak. Sure, they’ve wasted a lot of money on washed up free agents just trying to get to .500 ball, but the bottom line has still come out OK. The payroll did not decline and the losing continued. Somehow MacPhail and Angelos (MacPhail convinced Angelos..) decided the team could get younger, better, and cheaper. If they could better the team and generate more revenue, they could increase payroll if they desired. MacPhail has clearly tried to get younger, cheaper, and better, but it is not working right now. I still think the O’s system is filled with ineptness and it’s not entirely his fault. How come players just don’t come through the O’s system and perform? So what now? We are not going to see a big spending spree. The O’s need an infusion of discipline and competence from the minors on up. I have to think we’ll see Trembley go, likely Crowley as well (assuming Angelos allows the changes). If the team can stop stinking, then they will make more money. I think that’s been the intent behind the MacPhail change. It’s just not working out.
Hey, why aren’t we linking to that Drew Forrester? That guy rocks!
I came to camdenchat and all I got was this lousy avatar.
he made fun of me yesterday
for saying that the only way attendance will go up is for the team to win. He was prattling on about wanting a 2 dollar coupon or something. I’m still not sure why what I said was worth an entire blog post about how the “other side” (it’s just like watching Lost with all the Othering he does!) is stupid and apologetic and, ugh. It didn’t really make me mad though, which I’ll take as progress in my ability to grow up as a respectable human being.
Outs in baseball are like lives in Mario.
Congratulations on growing up!
I’m pretty sure he writes that stuff just because he doesn’t know what else to say. Like, might as well pick on some bloggers for no reason so I have something to write about. And believe me, I understand that. I often times can’t think of anything to write about this team.
It’s funny because the last week I was on their show, the one that duck linked to in the Bird Droppings (one day before Camden Chat wasn’t man enough to stand up to the Orioles by posting some thing about Free the Birds) he asked me what would get fans back and I said the exact same thing. Just win. He didn’t have any snarky responses for me that day.

SB Question which might sound odd
I’m bored with this screen name, is there any way to change it, or is that sort of thing frowned upon (because I don’t see any way to change it). Nobody really knows what TLC means anyhow and I haven’t written over there in a long while. I want to be my own man again!
Outs in baseball are like lives in Mario.
What do you want to change it to?
I couldnt’ figure out what TLC stood for when I first saw you. The Learning Channel? Then I thought TLC was a homage to the 90s R&B band who wrote magnificent songs like Creep and Waterfall. I still hold that belief.

What on earth we’re doing holding on to Pedro Viola. Dude was born to clear waivers, and his over 10 ERA with Norfolk is brutal.
To be understood is to be a prostitute. ~ Fernando Pessoa
glancing at the 40 man...
I see plenty of better Candidates than Justin Turner (not that Turner is any great shakes, but why just toss a potentially useful better than Lugo piece away for nothing?
Chorye Spoone
Pedro Viola
Garret Atkins
Pedro Florimon
Lou Montanez
Outs in baseball are like lives in Mario.
I can see keeping Spoone and Florimon on...
…and you can’t DFA Montanez without adding another spare outfielder.
But I’ll keep harping on it: how many lefty specialists do we need? How is Hendo, Ohman, Castillo, and Viola worth 10% of our 40-man roster? Particularly since Castillo can’t get major league hitters out, and Viola can’t get AAA hitters out?
To be understood is to be a prostitute. ~ Fernando Pessoa
Fair points
although Hendo isn’t a specialist, he’s a long man. And I’m not a believer in the Spoone post-injury (he’ll always have that one magical Carolina League year, though!). Certainly my preference would be to cut Atkins and then Viola.

Doug Mientkiewicz.

He looked alright, better than Beav for sure. I’d rather get Logan Morrison or Mike Stanton, but good luck prying those guys from the Feesh.

I’m no in great athlete, but come on. I’ve trained for distance races in the Baltimore summer. It sucks. You recuperate and you go back out the next day because that’s the training schedule. Koji needs three days for a thirty pitch appearance. I’m just dumb founded.
Dave Cameron at Fangraphs
thinks the O’s should trade some guys immediately since we’re already 147 games out of the playoffs.
The Orioles should let every GM know that their players are available, and they’re willing to deal. They might not be selling grade A premium beef, but there’s a reason Taco Bell does so well at 2 am – they’re the only ones open.
