that they air a decent finale were totally reasonable. instead, they aired a bloviating waste of time.

Praise for the finale is not uncommon. Right now, I would say I run into as much praise for the finale as hatred.

I'm firmly in the "Meh. It was OK." camp.
I don’t get the “They never answered ANYTHING!” people because they answered a lot if you were paying attention. Those reviews that asked “So, were they dead all along?” just didn’t pay attention during Christian Shepherd’s speech to Jack.
And the “Oh, what a great way to end their character’s stories!” people drive me nuts, because they’re ignoring the fact the Sideways Word was basically superfluous – it had no bearing on the Island timeline. None.
I loved the end piece with Jack, stumbling through the jungle to return to the bamboo, and seeing the plane escape as Vincent snuggled next to him and licked his face as he slowly slipped away, closing his eyes one last time. That was well done, even if it was predictable as a sunrise in the East. You knew that would be the last image of the show, but I still cried inside when it played out.

it's getting to the point where MacPhail might have stick with the Dave the entire season

I think your right. Unless Dave does some terrible managing. Then you can clean house of any bad coaches at the end of the year with him. And you can then sell next year as the hopefully .500 year with a new manager because all the pressure will be off, and the young guys will be getting more experience.
If they expect next year to be a .500 year they better get a whole bunch of new players too...
