kendry morales hit a walk off grand slam for the angels
Then broke his leg jumping on home plate. Wouldn’t wish that on my worst enemy

I'd have zero qualms wishing that on any Yankee player, particularly The Cap'n....

Me neither
I’d just wish that’d he’d break his leg, he doesn’t need those 4 RBI’s.

matt angle moved to AAA

Played 14 games at AA this year, 23 overall.

I want to like Angle
I really do, since what isn’t there to like about a standout defender in center with good plate discipline.
Except for his overwhelming groundball rate. This season, for example, he has hit 76.1% of balls on the ground. He hit only 6.5% of all balls hit as line drives.
Prospects with those ratios just don’t make the majors. I wish he made better contact. But I just don’t see it happening at this point.

As a reference point Juan Pierre had a career 21.8 LD% in the majors
And 55.7 GB%.

how about lj hoes?
I know he’s 5 years younger but their numbers are similar in that regard. Those numbers you listed for Angle are 2010 only, which covers 49 at bats.
by Stacey on May 30, 2010 1:42 PM EDT via mobile up reply actions
Yeah, it isn't encouraging in his case either
Hoes is, as you mentioned, much younger and has more time to figure it out. He was also rawer in the first place while Angle was a college draftee. But it is one of the reasons why I’m higher on Avery even though on a surface level, Hoes appears to be doing better.

So, with the Angels Morales going down....
does anyone think Scott or Wiggs becomes an attractive potential trade target for the LAA? I’ve heard it mentioned that their farm system has been depleted recently, is there anyone intriguing there for us to target? Would Brandon Wood be available due to his struggles?
Make the world a better place; punch a Yankee fan in the face!
Brandon Wood has no value
No one is going to trade for him under the present circumstances – why would you, when it appears he is both worthless and soon available for free on waivers?
I don’t think they would want Luke, but I could see them pursuing Miggi, Wiggs, or Ohman. If I were the O’s, I’d put it out there right away that we’d do something for one of their arms from last years draft – Tyler Skaggs, Tyler Kehrer, or Garrett Richards – all of whom are looking promising but not among the top echelon of their prospects. Teams will sense the Angels’ desperation and try to pry Mike Trout loose from them; this gives us a chance to move quickly for someone less valuable and will help the Angels increase their leverage in talks for higher end players.

Wiggs makes perfect sense
Plays 1B now and eventually 3B once Morales returns.
A high upside pitcher or two would make a good trade for both sides.

guh....
this would mean we would have to deal with Atkins for longer than otherwise. Does the potential long-term benefit outweigh the short-term mental anguish and frustration of having to deal with Atkins at 1st? (snark)

brandon wood is going to be available for free soon.
I came to camdenchat and all I got was this lousy avatar.
i'd say that even with brandon wood sucking serious wind
there’s no way we could land him in a trade with luke. also consider that the luke scott show of smoke and mirrors is due to vanish any day now. maybe with wiggles, but that’s in doubt IMO.
plus, as it’s been said, wood is free in a short amount of time. finally, getting rid of luke, miggi, or wiggy would mean a whole lot more atkins in our future. that is unacceptable.

Um, BU, OD will publish tomorrow
because I totally forgot and went to Ocean City to a batting cage with my daughter and then wasted 30 minutes looking for parking in the Inlet area to get Thrashers. We never got the fries. :( But we did ride some wicked fast go-karts after the batting cage. Y’all have to forgive me.

last place
LIVE IN NC HAVE BEEN A BALTIMORE FAN SINCE I KNEW ANYTHING ABOUT BASEBALL. ABOUT 1960. DOES THE OWNERS NOT GET TIRED OF BEING THE WORST TEAM IN MLB. YEAR AFTER YEAR SHOWING NO IMPROVEMENT. THEY SURE NEED TO SPEND SOME BIG BUCKS AND GET SOME BIG NAMED PLAYERS AND WIN THAT WILL BRING IT IN. THAT IS MY OPINION
Welcome to Camden Chat, Paul
The problem with spending big bucks on big named players is that big named players aren’t necessarily worth all the money they’ll command, plus you’d have to pay them extra to come to the worst team in baseball that also happens to play in the best division. And good young players are getting locked up more and more these days. The answer is to develop from within, I think, but if our system is broken in how it develops then we’re really in for trouble.
Please don’t use all caps :)
