RHP KOJI UEHARA has been reinstated from the 15-day disabled list. To make room for Uehara on the roster, INF GARRETT ATKINS has been designated for assignment.

It's about damn time.

I thought he might skate by through another transaction – probably could have seen Albers or Mata sent down. I wonder if Atkins hastened his exit with his comments that showed up on Britt Ghiroli’s Twitter within the last couple of days? Not that it really matters for him – since we’re still paying him $4.5 million to fail his way out of MLB this season regardless.

when Koji is on the roster he doesn't suck

he’s just barely ever on the roster. Atkins sucks always. I’ll take it.

this has been discussed before

he have no reason to believe that player salary budget and scouting/signing budgets are connected. they might be. they also might not be.

at the very least

that money could be earning some interest while it waits to be spent on someone that will make a difference.

Must be tough

Adkins seemed like a decent guy. It must be very hard to come to a new team, wish to perform well, but be very, very bad. At least Gonzo has been away from the team on rehab assignments for most of the time. Adkins was reminded every day how far his skills have fallen. If he can’t stick with the Os, who are desparate for a 1bman, his career is over. How long will it be before Koji is on the DL again. My bet is 3 weeks.

Anyone that wants to be rlsd from a bad team

And is as bad as he is, doesn’t seem like that great of a guy to me

if you paid me $4.5 million,

and a total of $15 million over the past three years, I would find a way to handle it.

I’m not saying that money buys happiness. It must be disappointing to feel like a failure no matter where you are or how much money you have.

I’m just saying that Garret Atkins’ version of “tough” is very different from my version of “tough”.

guess I’ll have to rent it.

I wouldn't say his career is over

He’s not going to get another guaranteed deal, that’s for sure. But someone will sign him to a minor league deal in a few days and he’ll be working on his comeback in AAA somewhere.

Go out and seize those opportunities, Garret.

With your track record and bat speed, I have no doubt that you have a bright future in the Slow Pitch Men’s Softball League in Big Loin, Texas.
