years ago I wanted Baltimore to hire a manager who would be a symbol of winning. Dave Johnson…nice move. But to fire him after 2 first place finishes?? Stupid as heck. After that, it went from one disaster to the next (though I admit I didn’t mind Miller…Hargrove??! It was impressive that the Os could go down from there). What to do?

1. Bring Davey back. Why not? Learn from a mistake.
2. Bring Cal on. If anyone represents an organization…
3. Hire Eddie Murray. Can you imagine anyone who would accept less BS?
4. Hire Jim Palmer. He says some odd stuff, but do you think he’s dedicated to having the Os win?
5. Brooks Robinson. You can’t play like that and not embed your spirit in the players the game and organization.
6. Earl Weaver. I don’t care how old he is.
7. Hire ANYONE and buy the team out from Peter Angelos. I hold him personally responsible for the last 12-13 years.
8. Pete Rose. At least he’d want to win.

Instead, we’ll walk through a pitiful line of former scrub players who want to pretend to manage, who also represent nothing to Baltimore or its history of excellence. There is enough talent on this team to win — certainly 50% of the time, and likely more than that. This is an opportunity to do it right…

We stick with the stupid owner and blame everyone else. Boycott Angelos.
The old guys aren’t going to be PLAYING. However, they may give a damn about the team.

Murray got fired? yeah… “On June 14, 2007, Murray was fired as hitting coach for the Los Angeles Dodgers. Ironically, the Dodgers had just come off a 3-game sweep of the New York Mets and had produced 31 hits and 18 runs.” Same mentality that let Dave Johnson go after winning two seasons.

BTW — nice academic discussion. You attack and have no other suggestions. Try suggesting something better instead.

1) ‘academic’ was supposed to be an insult. Is the wikipedia entry wrong? How’d you know I used wikipedia?? I didn’t quote it.

2) I am using a 3 game series to suggest that the person who said murray was dismissed for communications issues might be right — who knows — but it doesn’t seem that the results completely fell in line.

PETE ROSE — it was a JOKE you FM. Although the ‘do something different’ part was serious. On the other hand, if they did try to get Rose reinstated it would show some balls in a pick rather than feel-good, namby-pamby, pussy-boy thinking. But I guess you like all that feel-good stuff, eh?
