As reported on Facobook:
Scott Young Our niece’s husband, Jake Arrieta, has just been called up by the Baltimore Orioles. HE WILL START tomorrow night, pitch, against the Yankees! EXCITING !!!!!! Jake is out of TCU. He was drafted by Baltimore a year ago!
So now players’ Aunt and Uncle-in-laws are making announcements before the organization. Ya gotta love the digital information age.

And they have no idea when he was drafted, so it seems

That just makes it that much funnier
I’m imagining B-list relatives who scowled when the niece married “some baseball player”, weren’t impressed that he was playing in the minor leagues and never actually contemplated he might play in the majors. Now to make up for the prior lack of enthusiasm their guilt drives them into the bandwagon.
This may not actually be true, and in fact probably isn’t true, but it’s what I’m picturing anyway.

That is hilarious.

More like reaching for a conclusion.

I love how the Nats bring up their prized pitching prospects to pitch against the Pirates.
We save our debuts for the lowly Yanks.

So, this is it.
The last member of The Cavalry makes his debut. It’s been “Just wait for Matusz, Tillman and Arrieta to get here!”
Well, they’re here. I hope AM can build a team around them. Because these three are our last, best hope for contention for probably 3 years, if not more.
No pressure, Jake.

Britton, Erbe, Hobgood: The next 3
Hopefully we won’t be attaching all our hopes to them anytime soon

Hobgood is miles behind the other two
I’d say the next wave looks like Patton (will have to be, he’s running out of options), Britton, Johnson, Erbe, then a lull, then Drake and Zagone and Berry, then Hobgood.

I was just going by prospect rankings
Not by who will actually be up in order (much like we didn’t consider Berg, Hernandez, and Berken the Big 3).

Also...
I do have to say, I don’t trust any of them yet, but I feel like we have a legit chance for a very good start from any one of our pitchers now. Maybe not a win (as that would take some form of offensive production to occur), but I don’t fear watching any of these guys pitch.

Yes . . . sort of.
I can definitely say I look forward to seeing them pitch, which is a huge improvement. But I still fear watching them pitch.

Hey, at least I'll get to watch it on my big television
Even though I’ll have to watch it on YES.

it is for this reason that the mute button was invented.

I won't get to watch it.
I know I’m a broken record, but I hate blackouts. This just makes it worse.

Dammit...
I won’t be able to see it because I have an orchestra concert tonight. No way am I missing this, I’m going to record it.
On the other hand, how exciting is it to have Matusz, Tillman, and now Arrieta all up here? And Bergesen is another young pitcher. I know Matusz and Bergesen haven’t pitched well recently, but I have confidence that they’ll sort it out, and we could see a solid part of our future rotation up here.
