Orioles 7, Rangers 6! The apocalypse is on its way.
Wow. Where to start this one? After a two-plus hour rain delay which left the game ending after 2 a.m. in Baltimore, the Orioles trailed the entire game tonight until the top of the 9th inning, when they subsequently loaded the bases and tied the game at six on a dramatic Corey Patterson grand slam to the second deck in right field. You knew Corey would have a great at-bat in the 9th, after lacing three hits over the course of the night prior to that at-bat, he delivered with 2 outs and the Orioles against a wall. The Orioles sent 10 men to the plate in the 9th, loading the bases twice, but couldn’t come up with the knockout punch with Adam Jones striking out with the bases loaded.
Jake Fox continues to look like a steal for the Birds, as he hit a HR to lead off the 10th after coming in after the Pie injury. That proved to be the winning run, as Alfredo Simon came in for the 10th and recorded a 1-2-3 inning, Simon says SAVE!
There was a downside, however. Matt Wieters left with a "hamstring strain" that looks eerily like a disabled list-type injury. The next inning, Felix Pie didn’t make it out of the batter’s box after an awkward swing that left him with a "quad strain" (that looked eerily like a DL-type hip injury). It is likely that both players will go to the 15-day DL, which makes Jake Fox's play look even bigger in retrospect. Assuming these two moves happen, Josh Bell may have been spared an extra stint at AAA Norfolk, a roster move that was impending coming into the game. Assuming that Tatum and Fox can hold down the catcher's spot, the O's could call up a corner outfielder instead of having to demote Bell to clear a spot for Chris Tillman.
Anyway, good morning to all you Baltimore natives. I hope you go to stay up for the end of the game!

MBP is obviously Scorey, but Albers deserves some love for keeping this game close
Waiting 'til next year.

I gotta go with Scorey, but second wickedwitch's honorable mention for Albers.
Why the hell am I still awake? Jesus. Good night, Camden Chat.

WOW!!!
I work third shift and am working OT tonight. I hopped on here for a recap around 1:30 and was a little surprised it wasn’t here. So I went back to the Yahoo! Sports main page to see the score and it was the bottom of the ninth. I pull up Gametracker to “watch” and the stupid thing doesn’t work right on the company computers for some reason. Luckily I took my lunch break at 2am and was able to “watch” the pitch-by-pitch update on my phone through mlb.com. Made my 14-hour work night (2 jobs) easier to get through. Thank you Corey and Jake!
Glad to see the magic however
I would hate to lose the 1st pick in the draft next season. This is still a terrible team that needs a complete overhaul and some can’t miss draft picks to be our corner stones for the next 20 years. But hey don’t let me rain on the parade. That was something special last night. The only thing better would have been Josh Bell hitting that grand slam as a PH.
For the 2011 Amateur Draft the Baltimore Orioles take Anthony Rendon, 3B, Rice Univ with the drafts first pick.
Did I say "20" years? LOL

dont worry too much
We have a 3 game ‘lead’ on the pirates still, and as interleague play is over its not likely they tank as quickly as they were at one point. After all they are 17-23 against their division and we are 9-27 against ours

Wish I had seen it
But, I very much appreciate the recap, which I read first thing this morning. Imagine, a grand slam to tie the game in the 9th. As for Felix, I hope he is not one of those “tight” athletes who is always pulling a muscle somewhere.
too true
we already have one delicate flower

Marty looked worse then Felix. Stepped on second wrong cuz the bag was wet. Felix looked like he planted but his lower body didn’t move and twist

Probably just a mistake typing. The 'r' key is right next to the 't' key.

Sweet
Just watched the recaps. PerHAPS I’ll start watching full games again.
Oh and injuries — seriously? Didn’t Pie JUST come back five seconds ago?
It was an adorable injury though

I went to bed in the 8th
I kind of look like a douche now. I sat through hours of shit and missed all the good stuff.
THE PIE INJURY?!?!?
Oh and now we’re warming up Uehara. He’ll die. He will actually DIE if he pitches in this heat. -KenDixonFanClub
