Blue Jays 10, Orioles 1: Swept
Today was a typical day for the Orioles offense. Twelve hits, only one run. How many times have we seen something like that?
The good news: Nick Markakis had three hits, including two doubles. That gives him 31 on the year, or as many doubles as he has RBI. He continues to lead the league in doubles and is on pace for 55 on the year. Brian Roberts would be proud.
Adam Jones also had two singles, and he didn't strike out at all. Josh Bell's two hits gave him his first big league multi-hit game and his first big league hit off of a lefty.
The bad news: Brian Matusz got knocked around for the second straight start, lasting just 2.1 innings. Seeing him do poorly is maybe the saddest thing for me. Also sad is Felix Pie leaving four men on base and getting just one hit in five at bats. Only Miguel Tejada and Jake Fox left more on with five apiece.
Tomorrow the Rays come to town, so look for more of the same.

That's easily the highlight of this series with the Blue Jays
or maybe my souvenir cup from the game Saturday

I was there Saturday as well.
I had the good fortune to sit in front of a girl who at one point in the game said “Look at my armpit. Can you believe I just shaved Thursday and it’s only Saturday now?” That was after a “fan” asked me on Eutaw St about an hour and a half before the game “Are you a fan? I mean a real fan.” (As I walked by him in my Ripken tee and O’s hat.) Then he proceeded to ask “Did Wade Boggs ever play for them?” Then there was the assmonkey that bumped me and knocked the tray of nachos and beers out of my hands and kept going without a word. Really? These are the “fans” I have to deal with when I come to see this team play a shitty game like that? Sigh At least I got a Brooks Tee and a voucher for a Brooks jersey. (They can’t even get the game promotions right.)

They gave away Brooks tees!?
Oh man, that’s so much more awesome than some shitty screen printed fake jersey. Plus you still get the jersey!

Just not worth the torture sometimes
Haven’t been able to catch many games recently, but I was able to today. Except when I turned the game on it was 7-1 in the 3rd. Just not worth sitting there for 2 more hours watching the O’s get pummeled and putting myself in a crappy mood. So I went fishing, and it was way more fun!
Better luck tomorrow O’s.
well i'll be there tomorrow.
im a little bit afraid of what i may see…

Is Matusz in trouble?
Or just struggling?
I’m inclined to think he’ll work all of this out. He’s shut down great lineups many times, I think he’ll right the ship. But still, a start like this is pretty alarming. His season numbers are poor too. I could care less about W/L but ERA over 5 is rough. The 1.49 WHIP bothers me even more. He’s only 23, I’m sure it will be okay, but its just discouraging….
Too depressing for words.
If this is gonna be how the 2nd half is I will check out by August 1st. I know this team is not good, but I can only watch the young pitchers get pummeled and the offense shit the bed so many times.

Well, fantasy-wise my pitchers today were:
Matusz
D. Price
R. Halladay
B. Wilson
N. Perez
Thanks guys! Way to take my team ERA from 2.19 to 5.21…..
You should obviously drop Matusz and pick up Tillman.

I had considered matusz safe
But I’m not certain anymore. I still think hr has maddux like potential

Hm, no picture?
I thought I picked a sad picture of Brian Matusz to go with this, but I was on my way to do something so I guess I messed it up. No matter, these losers don’t deserve a picture.

So...
My dad was telling me today that the O’s will be terrible until Mr. Angelos “departs”. Then I realized, there’s an Angelos behind Angelos that’s only 30 something years old…

Eutaw street opens at 5.
The O’s are already in the middle of BP by then. Then the visitors start around 5:20. The rest of OPaCY opens at 5:30. BP ends around 6:40.
