fairly cheap public course w/ a driving range, nice view of the monuments from various tees and fairways, not terribly difficult.

I once hit a rat with a tee shot at Hains Point
And no, the animals are not part of the holes, like at a Putt Putt course.
It’s quite a colorful place, and as the post above says, it’s as easy a course as there is. Plus, if I recall correctly, within financial reason to play.

depends on who it is that is traded
We almost have to continue to carry the extra bullpen arm as a result of our shitty starting pitching. So if Ohman were to be dealt, then I would foresee a AAA arm coming up to keep the bullpen stocked. If it’s Wiggy, or we could only dream, Corey, then I could be on board w/ either Reimold or Aubrey coming up.

Tiger got to hunt, bird got to fly; Man got to sit and wonder, 'Why, why, why?' Tiger got to sleep, bird got to land; Man got to tell himself he understand.
it has to be a negotiating ploy, next years draft is stacked,
Rendon, even with the injury, is much closer to the majors and has a guaranteed position. He would lose a ton of leverage and he might drop even farther than the top 2 with all the stud starters coming out next year also.

hahaha Dempsey
Sources familiar with the team said that owner Peter Angelos originally favored former Oriole Rick Dempsey, who he thought would excite the fans and fire up his team.
It sure would excite the fans, in all the wrong ways. If true, leave it to Angelos to favor the weak candidate who would have no impact.
We’ve seen strong GMs and strong managers clash with the owner. Now we have Showalter, who is a control freak. MacPhail, it seems, has similar tendencies. Then you have Angelos. That might be a combustible stew in the front office. Lord knows how this will shake out. I say good, because it seems MacPhail too needs a swift kick in the ass. Tune in during the off season for some early results, as I figure Buck will get a honeymoon period now.

Well, it isn't as great as we may have thought yesterday
Pelzer’s back in the bullpen after a tough year with his command – no idea if we’ll keep him there or keep trying to make him a starter. Power arm who gets grounders, velocity may be down a touch this year. We also got about $1M in salary relief.
As far as a deal that really benefits us long-term, it isn’t great. I’d have rather passed on the salary relief and gotten someone who has a better chance of starting, or better yet a position player, which is what we really need. But at the same time, well, it is Miguel Tejada – that we were able to get anything at all for him is a win in my book.

Good stuff
With such a drastic platoon split that’s been apparent since his professional career began, it’s hard to imagine Pelzer having a ton of success as a starting pitcher. But in the bullpen, where his fastball can go above 95 mph with movement, and where his slider is death on right-handed hitters, Pelzer could be very good.

Most of the dogs in the calendar don't belong to them.
Most are from the MD SPCA, since they were trying to get people to adopt from there. I think only Nick, Brian, Huff, Wieters, and Rich Hill are posing with their own pets. I have no idea about Hill but the rest are married. In a couple of the pictures they note that the player actually does have a dog but it lives elsewhere (like, in Koji’s case, Japan).

It hasn't been reported yet
Berkman has to give his ok because he’s a 10 and 5 player, and he has until tomorrow to do that, so they can’t officially announce it until then. Imagine it’ll be minor leaguers, so we’ll find out then. One thing is he only accepted on the condition that they didn’t pick up his option because he wants to go the Yankees, try and win the world series, then go back to Houston in 2011.
Oh and now we’re warming up Uehara. He’ll die. He will actually DIE if he pitches in this heat. -KenDixonFanClub
I also doubt they get much for him
the Yanks’ll be picking up quite a bit of payroll in this deal.

That's not what I'm hearing
Berkman is owed $7.1 for the rest of the year and the Astros are paying 4.
