[Ty] Wigginton was the only Oriole selected for the fifth straight year and the ninth time over the last 10 years.
"I was just shocked actually," said Wigginton who was given the news after he arrived at Fenway Park this morning. "I feel like at this point, there are some guys having better years than me, both on the team and around the league. But obviously, we know somebody has to go from here and it feels good that it’s me."

I agree. Nick's our only .300 hitter, last I checked batting .300 is a major All-Star credential.

But the reasons Girardi cited, and ones I can think of myself, make enough sense to be true: there are an excess of outfielders already, there was need for a versatile infielder and a right-handed pinch hitter, and just possibly Girardi wants to get to know him better in case the Yankees trade for him.
