Sunday Bird Droppings: Fire Buck! Buck must go!
A loss? Unacceptable! Read about what a failure Buck Showalter is at MLB.com, The Baltimore Sun, and Chicago Sun-Times.
Healthy Uehara becoming a force for O's
Koji is healthy and awesome. He's also adorable (remember the Ty hugging?).
A Q&A with Padres infielder Jerry Hairston Jr.
His nickname is JHair? Ew.
Where are they now: Former MLB all-star Glenn Davis
Reading up on what he's doing now makes it kind of hard to continue disliking him.
Oates, Miller into Birds Hall of Fame
"When I was a teenage kid, the Orioles were everything and I was dreaming to be a baseball player. ... To be thrown in that group, that's the ultimate thing for me."
Alex Rodriguez Struck by Batting Practice Line Drive, Out of Lineup
Lance Berkman nailed him during batting practice. A-Rod was on the field at third but instead of paying attention was chatting with Joe Buck. Good job, guy.
Blue Jays hit 8 home runs, beat Rays 17-11
Jose Bautista, Adam Lind, Edwin Encarnacion, Lyle Overbay, Aaron Hill, Aaron Hill, J.P Arencibia, J.P. Arencibia
Red Sox sign Carlos Delgado and he will report to Pawtucket
Lots of injuries in Boston so they signed Delgado to save them.
Hunter levied with four-game suspension
Torii Hunter is having his troubles. First that crazy attempted steal, and Friday he got super angry at the umpire and threw a bag of baseballs on the field.
Minors News
Anti-gay tirade costs manager his job | Toronto Sun
Does anyone remember Brent Bowers? I don't. He played 21 games for the Orioles in 1996, his only time in the majors. And now he's done in the minors after gay bashing an umpire. Stay classy, Brent Bowers.
Mahoney justifies promotion to Bowie - The Capital
Interesting fact from this article: His total of 67 RBI would be tops on the Orioles. What a weird thing to say.
Steve Melewski: Comparing Mahoney & Wieters
Through 24 games, Joe Mahoney has better numbers at Bowie than did Matt Wieters. I guess that means he's better!
Matzek delivers six no-hit innings
Tyler Matzek struck out seven in six no-hit innings for the Asheville Tourists. But he also walked five, so he obviously isn't that great.
Tides Lose 5-2
Rick VandenHurk gave up 5 runs (3 earned) in 5.2 innings as the Tides lost their fourth straight.
Baysox lose 2-0
Kyle Drabek of the New Hampshire Fisher Cats two hit the Bowie Baysox, spoiling the return of Chorye Spoon who pitched 5.0 innings in his first game since 26 July.
Keys lose 6-1
Nathan Moreau got knocked around for 5 runs in 3.2 innings as the Winston-Salem Dash held the Keys to just three hits.
Shorebirds win 9-1
The Shorebirds scored nine runs on just seven hits and Kenny Moreland pitched a seven inning two-hitter. The final two innings were pitched by a kid named Will Startup. Considering he was born in 1984, drafted in 2005, and is still in A ball, I'm going to guess he never makes the majors. But I sure hope he does because that's the most awesome name ever.
Ironbirds lose 9-6
The Mahoning Valley Scrappers survived a 4 run eighth inning rally by the IronBirds to win. Every Ironbird had at least one hit and 1B David Anderson had a home run and two walks. Starting pitcher Tyler Sexton had a bad day.

Oh and now we’re warming up Uehara. He’ll die. He will actually DIE if he pitches in this heat. -KenDixonFanClub

Has anyone shot f#cking Berken yet? The one-man Kill the Orioles Resurgence machine?
This guy is shouting BOWIE! BOWIE! at us. Is anybody listening?!?

Speculation has already started...
…about whether A-Fraud will be passed over for the HOF.
Given how broken MLB is as a whole I can’t really say that guys like McGwire & Palmeiro & ARod shouldn’t go in. The whole thing is rotten.
But I’m enough of a purist to think that no matter how rotten the modern game gets you should try your damndest to keep that stink off the HOF when it contains guys like Ed-DIE, Cal, & Brooks.
Long story short: I grin to myself when I read of him getting nailed with a line drive because he’s not paying attention. Eff’im.

I hate how football Adam Jones doesn't like being called Pacman anymore.
Now it’s much harder to differentiate him and our Adam Jones.
Buck Showalter clearly isn't interested in having Anthony Rendon as a member of the Orioles.

My current O's fantasy is a future infield of ...
Mahoney / Hoies / Machado / Rendon
with Mahoney being the slugging 1st baseman we’ve been lacking for a decade, Rendon ranked among the best 3rd basemen in MLB, Machado as the heir to Cal Ripken and Hoies quietly getting the job done at 2nd, producing SB and Dbl’s number reminencent of Mr Roberts.
Throw in old man Markakis, team capitan Weiters and All-Star Adam Jones and the league’s best pitching staff and I’m a happy guy.
Clarence, It's better to have a gun and not need it, then need a gun and not have it.
Do you mean LJ Hoes?
I’m guessing you did but you spelled it Hoies twice so I’m not sure.

Yes.
Rather embarassing, as he graduated from my high school.

I thought maybe Chris Hoiles had a son that would be drafted soon.
