:(

This is so sad, guys. I wish it was Mike Gonzalez who blew the save. Everything would be easier in my brain.

The solution

is to absolutely smash CC tomorrow, again denying him his 20th win. And then have Koji come in Sunday and get the save, preferably against the heart of the order.

I can't believe I'm this upset over a September game...

As pissed off as I am about the outcome of this game, I can’t help but be a little happy that Orioles baseball matters to me while football is going on. It’s been a while.

Go O’s. We can still win this series.

by Crank White on Sep 18, 2010 12:05 AM EDT reply actions

I had that exact same attitude about the game we lost against NYY last week.

Man, I was bummed that we lost, but at the same time it was like, “Damn, I forgot how much losing hurts when it actually matters.”

This is pretty much the same shit. Except I’m even more pissed because there’s Yankee fans all over in Baltimore.

F######################################ck!!!! Is Koji becoming the Yankee Anti-Killer?!?

He seems to be specializing in getting within one pitch of putting down the MFYs and then….

My liver can’t take too many more of these, Koj. Really.

In other news, at least Cal started the weekend right by making me some rubles. Dammit. Toldja Kaepernick was on a maniac run. Yikes.

OK, Guts for the evener. Go O’s!

tgraham gets a pass

That ump stone cold fucked us without even so much as dinner, romance or the tiniest hint of foreplay. A-Rod struck out. Struck out. If you watched the YES coverage even he knew he fucking struck out and was making goofy ass faces that said “Thanks Blue for giving me an extra strike this AB.” I am so goddamn sick and tired of these umps coming into Camden Yards and thinking they have the night off because they’re officiating the Orioles. We’ve been getting fucked six ways to Sunday in these games and enough is e-fucking-nough already.

it happens

doesn’t mean Koji gets a pass to give A-Rod a HR ball the next time up.

Agreed.

I mean, if it was right down the middle, we could be a little more pissed, but so it goes.

go get your vision checked,

by Jonny Pops on Sep 18, 2010 4:35 PM EDT up reply actions

Ehhh I think you might need to get yours checked.

See the k-zones posted in the bird droppings – it was technically a ball. And even if you think that it brushed the black, that’s a borderline call at best.

Nice comeback.

Not quite as good as “I know you are, but what am I.” But close.

I don’t know what the MASN coverage of the AB was. But the YES coverage clearly showed it was a strike. Even A-Rod was well aware of this, and stood there with a shit eating grin on his face that he had gotten away with one. The sentiment was unmistakable and disgusting to behold.

Now either quit arguing against your own team or change your handle.

by Jonny Pops on Sep 18, 2010 6:25 PM EDT up reply actions

I'm not arguing against my team.

I’m arguing against the absolutely pathetic viewpoint that once an umpire makes a mistake (and this “mistake” was incredibly debatable) our team is free to just throw in the towel. Excuses are like assholes.

But really keep the insults coming. They are entertaining.

Blah, Blah & Blah....

There was nothing debatable about the blown call. The only thing debatable here is your supposed fealty to the Baltimore Orioles. It’s my strong suspicion that you’re more dedicated to arguing (specifically, with me) than you are to the baseball team you purport to follow. And that is what’s truly pathetic. Now get out of my sight. I have neither the time nor the inclination to act as pusher to your flame war addiction any longer this evening.

by Jonny Pops on Sep 18, 2010 6:51 PM EDT up reply actions

lol

So the only person in the entire world that things it was the right call is the umpire? Good shit – didn’t realize you had a lock on the entire body of opinion on this.

I also didn’t realize that you couldn’t say anything about the team you’re a fan of. I’ll file that tidbit of wisdom away too though.

Yeah I really love arguing with you – I’m definitely the one that started it by telling you to get your vision checked…

As far as getting out of your sight? You can fuck the hell off. If you don’t have the time don’t fucking post, but don’t keep posting while telling me you don’t have the time. That’s what’s truly pathetic.

yeah, it koji gave A-Rod the exact same pitch, WTF.

I've been playing baseball since I was six years old, so that's 40 years I've been on a baseball field and around a baseball field, and so our opinions are formulated through facts, not fiction, not their little chat room jargon.

that kinda totally ruined my "thanks koji" sign.

But I got a half-assed nod from him when he came off the field

"double rainbow...what does it MEAN?"

A commenter

here on Camden Chat. During last night’s game thread he began the ceremonial O-R-I-O-L-E-S prematurely – presumably after the umpire blew the call on what should have been strike 3 to A-Rod. The three-run blast from the Yankee slugger followed swiftly thereafter and our poor tgraham was immediately subjected to accusations of being a jinx. Unfairly humiliated in public and forced to pay the price for the sin of home plate umpire Ted Barrett.
