Jones out of lineup; no timetable on his return | orioles.com: News

Steve Melewski: Keys set their playoff rotation
"Despite losing 10 of their last 12 games, the Frederick Keys are playoff bound. In fact, it looks like it will be Orioles vs. Nationals in the playoffs. That's the Carolina League playoffs. After going 41-29, Frederick won its division in the first half. The Nats team in that league, Potomac, is leading in the second half. The best-of-five Carolina League semi-finals will begin next Wednesday at 7 p.m. at Frederick's Harry Grove Stadium."
Orioles Insider: Showalter on Josh Bell’s lapses
"It was the third time Bell has lost track of outs in the past month, and the manager made it a point to talk to the rookie about the continual mistake. "It’s more of a reaction thing, that he stepped on the bag," Showalter said. "But the game should never catch you by surprise and that’s a concentration thing. You don’t expect or tolerate (that) from anybody."
Orioles Insider: Tillman headed to Baltimore, could start Sunday; Angle's injury could prevent callup
"Though no final decision has been made, Tillman is expected to be in Baltimore this weekend and as of now, the club is leaning toward starting him Sunday in the series finale against the Tampa Bay Rays." The rotation would simply be pushed back a day to accommodate the move.

"Elias's Alex Stern lists Det.(8), Bos(7), Balt.(6), Phil &Tex(5) as teams with most wins after trailing by 4+ runs. Speaks for not quitting"

cry me a river light rail
I feel bad for the businesses in Baltimore that suffer because the Orioles suck, but you know what else sucks? Lightrail.

Pirates v Orioles
I think what makes the Pirates failures even more appalling is their division. The NL Central? I know there are like 9 teams in that division, but outside of the Cardinals, no team in that division really has been able to build a sustainable foundation. And a lot of the Cardinals success stems from luckily drafting Pujols (I think he was a 9th round pick or something). So while the Pirates do have some nice young players, the Orioles do as well, and I think have better arms.
Is Rendon a lock to be #1 next year? I understand that there are 4 really good young college pitchers, so that would be quite useful as well.
Librarians are hiding something
Assuming he comes back fine from injury, I think he's pretty much a lock
but theres a very strong group right after him like you said that would make a fine consolation prize, which is part of the reason I get annoyed when I hear people rooting for us to lose so we get the first pick.
I hate it when people wish for their team to tank games
I understand that there is a huge drop-off between the #1 and #2 picks in the draft. I understand that it is more profound than in any other professional sports draft. That said, nobody should ever root for a team that has been as horrible as the Orioles have been for the past 12 years to lose any more games.
"'And worse I may be yet. The worst is not so long as we can say 'This is the worst.'"
Not a big drop off between #1 and #3 this year
Harper is a great ballplayer but a jerk. Taillon is a pitcher and therefor a gamble. Machado is as good as either of the other two. I’m happy we got him.
With Machado, Narron, Givens and Schoop we ought to be able to develop an infield. I haven’t seen any of them play, but the write ups sound encouraging. I would keep Given at SS because of his arm strength, though. If any of them is to become a 2B, I would think it should be Narron or Schoop.
“Elias’s Alex Stern lists Det.(8), Bos(7), Balt.(6), Phil &Tex(5) as teams with most wins after trailing by 4+ runs. Speaks for not quitting”
How many of those came under Buck and DT/Samuel?
And here’s the full context of Garza’s comments.
"They did a good job tonight. When I said that, I never meant any disrespect to their guys; they’re a great club. When I say they’re young and they can cause a mess, more like playing a spoiler role, and they’re capable of that."
He was asked afterward about his comment that he wanted to make the Orioles feel uncomfortable – which was taken as a veiled way of saying he would pitch inside and keep players off the plate. But after the game, he said that wasn’t what he meant. Gamesmanship, he said, was his purpose. And it worked, he believes.
"That has nothing to do with going up and in and knocking guys down. That was a mental game right there, and I won it," he said. "They were so geared up to hit that fastball in that they totally forgot the other side of the plate. And you can notice that in the first at-bat with Markakis, where he was geared up to pull everything away, butt-out swings, just letting the bat hit. That was good for me because next time through they were like, am I staying out there, am I coming in?
I have no problem with Garza.
I've been playing baseball since I was six years old, so that's 40 years I've been on a baseball field and around a baseball field, and so our opinions are formulated through facts, not fiction, not their little chat room jargon.
I like him less than I did yesterday before I heard about the comments
but in the way that I shouldn’t like someone we view as a rival. I dont think less of him as a player or as a person, but I do view him as more of an enemy. In that sense, I’m glad he said it because thats how it should be. I’ve always felt sorta uncomfortable half-heartedly liking the Rays, and I’d like to thank Garza for making it a little easier to hate him.
OT- I just found out Nyjer Morgan is 30
Its not an excuse, but I thought maybe some of his bat-shit craziness and stupidity may have been due to his young age. I really thought he was in his low 20’s, just never bothered to look it up.
To me it makes his antics all the more shocking.
"I know the save rule, believe me. But it doesn't carry much weight with me. I like the win rule a little bit better." - Buck Showalter
Really? 30?
He’s crazy and he sucks and he’s old (for a baseball player). Why do people keep employing him?
30 seems insane.
Still can’t wrap my mind around it.
Buck Showalter clearly isn't interested in having Anthony Rendon as a member of the Orioles.

Typo under the Josh Bell article
You forgot the “I” in “It”, not to nitpick or anything.
Bring back Luis Matos.
Organizational depth
As the Pittsburg-Baltimore comparison suggests, the long era of draft/development incompetence have left us with little organizational depth. Maybe we have some infield depth in the low/low minors, but it is a long way away. There is no infield depth in the high minors. I had hopes for Bell, but he is a strikeout machine. I also had hopes for Snyder, but he has disappeared from view. So, we have no 3B propsects to speak of and no 1B prospects. Our SS and 2B prospects are all years away. We are still a few years away from being respectable.
