Orioles 6, Yankees 2- Arrieta>Sabathia
Going into the game, the big story line was CC Sabathia, he needed to beat the O's to get this 20th win, should've been pretty easy seeing as though he's put up insane number in NYS and vs. the O's.
CC had bad first inning, something that he is known to do. B-rob got on, moved up to second on a wild pitch and Felix drew a walk. Markickass then singled to left to load the bases with no one out. Wiggy drop a ball into the outfield. Then Adam Jones hit one into left field and scored Pie and Markakis. So just like that it was 3-0, O's. The big inning ended as the bottom third of the lineup came up and all were retired. Arrieta had an ok first inning, allowing a few hits but then getting a double play. CC and Jake had strong innings, both only facing three batters.
The O's came back with fury in the third. Wiggy got a double on a poor play by Curtis Granderson, one of several during the game. After an AJ flyout, Nolan Reimold MASHED one into the second deck, 5-1. Arrieta continued to look dominant with a 1-2-3 inning. The 4th was uneventful, two 1-2-3 innings. CC seemed to regian his control and set the down the O's batters in order again. Lance Berkman got a single to start the bottom of the 5th, Adam Jones then took a horrible route on a Jorge Posada fly ball and it dropped for a double. Jake Arrieta got out of the jam, getting the next three Yankee batters out. CC continued to show why he was a Cy Young candidate with yet another quick inning. Arrieta allowed a hit to Jeter with Jeter getting a hit only he could get. Arrieta struck out Tex, and got a fly out and a ground out.
Josh Bell reached to start the 7th on a god-awful play Granderson in right field. B-Rob singled to have runners on the corners with no outs. Felix struck out, but Nick singled to knock in the Nugget, 6-2, O's. Kerry Wood came in and got both Wiggy and AJ to strike out on foul tips. Adam Jones allowed another double that a Gold Glover should catch. Posada then got the walk. Buck had seen enough of Jake, and Phat Albers came in. There was some confusion on a popup between Andino and Jones and the ball fell in, but they still got the force at 2nd, thanks to smart play to cover second by B-rob. A*Roid came in to pinch hit, and hit a liner at Andino, he knocked it down andthrew it to secondfor the force. Gardner ground to B-Rob and he threw to Wiggy for the force. Nothing happened in 8th except for a bunch of outs. The O's did nothing in 9th and Hendo came in to get some work at got a 1-2-3 inning to end it. The O's have won a series vs. the Yankees for the first time all year! Huzzah!

Ahem, I was I was saying: SWEEP! SWEEP! SWEEP!!!
This game may figure in Arieta’s Hall induction speech, I’m thinking.
CC is a fine pitcher, but nobody has it all the time, every time. Especially those times when you’re confronted by a frickin’ angry Orioles buzzsaw of a lineup, hee-hee!
Burgurglerson for the sweeperino. Go O’s!

In other news, wanna see how soccer actually works?
(From yesterday’s Euro-qualifier, France 2 – Bosnia 0). A few intramural games in college don’t exactly equip you with expertise, but these 2 goals are very instructional, I’d say, as to (1) how you’re s’posed to get it done on your lonesome from good shooting distance in front and (2) what perfect passing actually looks like (and more or less on-side, too).

i cant wait for tomorrow's game
Bergy pitches the way he’s been pitching lately, he’ll be just fine. No doubt the offense can pick him up in that park against a rookie. When it happens, we’ll party like it’s 1986.

Ummmm
against a rookie
The O’s bats typically go silent in such situations…

Good to see Nolan go deep
He crushed the hell out of that one.
On a bad note, AJ looked terrible in the field tonight. Andino should have never even had to make an attempt at the fly ball he dropped, one of the fielders (probably Jones) should have called him off. I thought AJ got a good jump on the Posada “hit” but my personal feeling is that if you can’t play a ball that lands on the warning track, then you are indeed playing too shallow.
Hopefully, Bergy pitches like he has been tomorrow and we can get the sweep. But, I will take 2 of 3 from the Stankees any time.

he got an OK jump on it but took a terrible route

Oy vey.
5-0 and 6-0? Try 5-1 and 6-2.

I love this shit
I mean really.. Fuck that team, fuck their minor league sponsored stadium, fuck their arrogant toolbag fans and their city too. So tired of hearing about how great they are now when they were one pos 14 yr old from never having this 15 yr run. Both teams on the rise but we never recovered from that travesty. All I hear at work everyday is whether baseball should contract the Os or make them minor league affiliate of the Yankees so that one day some of them might win a few games.
Newsflash clowns! You got fucking lucky and bought your way into hell. To quote Mr. Stewart, ‘go fuck yourselves’! (btw isn’t it sad that 2 of the most revealing news shows are on comedy central? My 9th grade English teacher once told us the most reliable news was always veiled in political satire… I can’t help but feel he may have been right.)

It was a 13 year old, but I'll agree to that contention to my dying day.
If Jeffrey Maier doesn’t interfere with that fucking ball, the Orioles win that game, and the series, and go on to the World Series which they also would have won. The panic, bad moves, bad owner stuff would have happened to Steinbrenner instead and right now we’d be talking about the Yankees’ 13th straight losing season.

Relief pitching
Albers and Hendo were great last night. I am hopeful that Albers is now fully recovered from his labium tear. While visiting the orthopod for my own shoulder miseries, I asked the doctor about the difference between Tommy John surgery vs. labium repair. He responded that with Tommy John the pitcher is shut down for over a year (except for Simon) and fully recovers. He also has a brand new ligament in his elbow. With a labium tear, the shoulder improves but the pitcher now has a great deal of scar tissue along with the muscle. As a result, the shoulder is not as strong and the pitcher loses speed and bite. It would be a huge plus for us if Albers recovers fully. Same for Berken.
BTW, I love to watch Koji pitch. He reminds me of Scott McGregor. He throws strikes and works fast. That is fun to watch. Koji must have a great deal of balance and coordination.
my orthopedist said something similar
although he seems to think you never fully “recover” from a torn labrum especially you bypass surgery like albers did.
