School of Roch: Quick coaching update
The O's are still looking for a few coaches, but Roch isn't finding much info about who may be the new bullpen coach and base coach.

Steve Melewski: Posada to the Orioles? Don't see much chance for that
Jon Heyman is pusing for Jorge Posada to the O's, but Steve Melewski, and right-thinking O's fans everywhere, thinks it's a terrible idea.

Cal Ripken Jr. among prominent sports figures distancing themselves from The Second Mile | PennLive.com

"Steve Johnson allowed two hits over three scoreless innings to lower his ERA to 2.95. He didn't walk a batter and struck out one. He threw 35 pitches, 23 for strikes. Since I never got to answer last night:

@salvotion: Skyrim is pretty damn good. If you liked previous Elder Scrolls games, then you will love this one. I’ve played them all from Daggerfall on and this is so far the best gameplay. It’s a bit more simplified in the character building aspect (actually a lot more), but it allows you to mold your player as you go instead of committing to a certain build right from the get go.

@kba There is no real continuity between the Elder Scrolls games. There are some obscure references from time to time and playing past games will help you with some of the history and what not, but Skyrim takes place 200 years after Oblivion. Not a whole lot of continuity to be expected. If you like open world RPGs in a fantasy setting, then I recommend it.

How complicated is the whole spells/fighting/puzzles aspect?

I tried to get into RPGs but the seemingly infinite combinations of spells and charms and amulets and potions during fighting always confused the hell out of me. And I HATE logic puzzles. There’s a way to grind a game to a complete halt – can’t solve this puzzle? You’re done playing our game! HA HA HA!

It's designed so you can get through the game as simply a hack and slash

without using all of the features, but for the more involved players they have alchemy, magic, weapon/armor forging, etc. All of those things really add to the game, but it’s still fun to just throw on the best weapon and armor you have and fuck shit up.

And it looks pretty good. Then, I clicked on a reaction video (title not mine) Fat Girl’s Reaction to Skyrim Trailer. What stuck out to me was “this movie is going to be great!” Wow.

it was alright...

sort of frustrating to see movies on that nice screen w/ shitty prints and not have re-mastered sound for a nice sound system, though i saw die hard there over the summer and that was really disappointing b/c it’s such a big movie.

i always enjoy tap, though, and i appreciated them really waiting until 11:11 pm to roll it. talk about dedication!

I was near sighted. Never had a problem reading, unless it was more than 5 feet from my face.

by Holymittens on Nov 12, 2011 4:08 PM EST up reply actions

I initially thought I was near sighted because I had trouble seeing the board

Although I was having trouble reading too. It turns out that the board was blurry because I have “stress-induced binocular instability”. My eyes were straining and the world felt like a camera that was trying to get in focus. I’m far sighted. Now I can read better and the glasses are helping my eyes relax. I also have an astigmatism, so they’re correcting that too. Overall, it feels much better.

Contrary to popular belief, I am not Jewish.

by DCO'sfan on Nov 12, 2011 4:11 PM EST up reply actions

Congratulations

Being able to see properly is fantastic. I found out I needed glasses in the 4th grade or so and I still remember how different it felt between not having them and having them. Being able to actually read the board was a huge difference.

Ohhh my dad is stupid

He didn’t tell me the correct information. Or maybe I heard wrong. My passport was issued when I was 14, and I need to renew it because I’m going out of the country. I think it was about whether I needed to present a valid photo ID. Because if you’re under 16, then both parents have to provide identification but if you’re 16 or 17 you only need to show your own photo ID (unless you don’t have one, in which case one parent has to show his/her ID). I have my license so I’m good.

What if Beck throws something like 3 INTs, is pulled in the 4th for Grossman, who leads a comeback?

Since the Dolphins are pretty shitty themselves and could easily fail to capitalize on Beck sucking and let the Redskins stay in it for a QB who is probably, in the aggregate, as shitty as John Beck, but is also capable of sometimes having a decent few series.
