OT: So, how 'bout that GAME OF THE CENTURY, eh?
The "Game of the Century" Kinda Sucked
By Zachary D. Rymer (Featured Columnist) on November 7, 2011

I know, I know. It's juvenile to say that something "sucks" or that something "sucked." Moreover, this is an expression that has no place in a serious college football discussion (emphasis on "serious").
But let's face it. Saturday night's showdown did suck. It was a game with plenty of great defense, yes, but it also featured more than enough turnovers, missed field goals, bad quarterback play and way too much action in between the 20s.
What we saw was not a football game. It was more like a war of attrition with pads. And even after enhancing the experience with a few beers, I felt completely bored by it. Thankfully, the Oklahoma State vs. Kansas State game was on at the same time, and it was a humdinger.
If these two teams met up again, my fear is that we would get more of the same.

This was the most boring "game of the century" I have ever watched. .... NO team should be ranked #1 or #2 that has such a lousy kicking game. ...

What a football game!

12 hours ago – Top-ranked LSU's 9-6 overtime win against No. 2 Alabama Saturday evening wasn't the game of the century, decade or season. ... I turned it off...it was a horrible game. ... I love a good defensive game but this game was lousy. .... The game was boring and reminded me of Big 10 football of the 60's-70's. ...

And how 'bout them BCS rankings?
“The SEC is "down" this year. While this statement is true, the extent to which it is true is subject to debate. South Carolina was ranked No. 9 in the BCS because of its record, but was largely viewed as a team struggling. The Gamecocks were picked to win the East by a large consensus before the season, but injuries and dismissals soured many on their chances of attaining that goal. Still, I repeat, they were ranked ninth in the BCS because of their record. Why were they ranked so high if people already thought of them as a floundering team? (For that matter, why was Kansas State ranked so high if people knew they were fools gold? Why don’t these teams get the Houston/Boise State treatment if they are products of a weak schedule? That’s another argument.)
The answer lies in perception. If the SEC is down, why do Alabama and LSU get credit for beating SEC teams, but Arkansas gets punished for it? Because popularity and perception are stronger than reality."

We still suck, but on Sept. 29, 2011, we did a Very Cool Thing. Yeah, we did that.
I wouldn't be surprised if LSU has a letdown next week after such a big win...
who do they play? UF, SCAR, UGA? (checks schedule) Um, what? Go Hilltoppers!
"Tiger got to hunt, bird got to fly; Man got to sit and wonder 'why, why, why?' Tiger got to sleep, bird got to land; Man got to tell himself he understand.."
Hey, they're on a roll -- uphill! LSU is just the next scalp to add to their belt...

I actually do expect a bit of a letdown...
When these players circled their calendars at the beginning of the year, or set a reminder on their smartphones, or whatever kids are doing these days (“Siri, count down the days to the big game.”), the Tigers circled last week. WKU circled this one. That’s going to lead to one team that is really pumped for this game, and one team that is really not. That won’t change the fact that the latter is much, much more talented, but it can’t be completely ignored.
I expect something like that Troy game from a few years ago, when LSU fell down by like 4 scores and came back and won by a comfortable margin.

Hey, good luck to 'em. The spread today is 41.5-- and I remember 41-pt dog Stanford beating SC in the Coliseum 4 yrs back...
The Hilltoppers might wanna watch the game films of that one!
