Sigh.
Girl I’ve been chasing for a while removed the “single” from her facebook profile. And not because of me. Merry freakin’ Christmas.

perhaps she just didn't want her relationship status listed on facebook anymore?
or do you have confirmation there’s someone else?
I saw it with me own eyes.
Figured she’d make it “official” soon.

Walked into a bar with a bunch of our other friends and she had the guy come and meet us there. Devastating.

But in all honesty, it’s new. Give her a reason to wonder if there’s something better waiting for her out there. If you’re confident you’re the better catch you’ve got a shot regardless.

But just like WW points out, things change. And the object of my affection is single once again after a 4 month dalliance.

My wife really is the best ever.
Her inspired gift for me, which may seem stupid to a lot of you, is a weekend at Adult Space Camp in Huntsville. It is the perfect gift for me.
I also got a new O’s cap and an Orioles gnome, so apparently I was pretty good this year.

there are some flat-ish sections towards the end for sure
i think it’s about 3 or 4 miles long. if it opened, you could do the top and then peel off to ther slopes.
the top especially is absurdly scenic, and also much narrower than most slopes. so you really get that feel of “skiing through the vermont woods”. in case you ever go back.

the GF got an immersion blender as well
Pretty excited to eat the tasty treats she whips up with it.
Theres nothing i can do with the immersion blender that i couldn't without it
but it makes a lot of things way more convenient. I look forward to not having to transfer hot soup from a large pot to the blender and back.
that's the best thing about it
i’ve also used it for the occasional dressing, but mostly it’s about the pureed soups.

I love NPR
and I definitely wouldn’t call myself left-leaning. It’s just good, even reporting on a wide variety of interesting topics.
...with horribly grating voices.
seriously, why can’t they get their reporters to do some simple vocal work?
"End of season like this, to make Boston go home sad, crying, I’ll take it all day."—Robert Andino
who do you dislike specifically?
I’m trying to think of the regular NPR/PRI guys and Robert Seigel is the only one I think could get annoying. And Diane Rehm right before her scheduled botox-ithe-vocal-chords treatments.
Diane Rehm is the worst
she is one of the few radio hosts i find totally unlistenable based on voice alone
I can see that
I personally don’t find it all that annoying but can obviously see how lots of people do. I just love the format of that show: present a topic, assemble a bunch of informed guests from all sides of the issue, and let it rip.
diane rehm's voice is the worst ever. EVER!
Besides her, all of the other voices are fine by me.
Kevin Gregg-"You obviously haven't acquired my taste for pitching yet"
I... agree... with birdman.
I absolutely have no problem with an All Things Considered or Morning Edition hosts. I try not to criticize Diane Rehm, because I’m pretty sure she had some medical condition that has affected her voice, but I also can’t listen to her.
by Tezcatlipoca on Dec 26, 2011 2:52 PM EST up reply actions
it's hard to describe
what makes a voice piercing and abrasive instead of inviting and melifluous?
in their case, i’d say it’s this sort of “NPR vocal style” they’ve developed, which includes having no regard for supporting the voice, especially towards the ends of sentences. and then there are some people who just have harsh voices—i imagine they wouldn’t get to do on-air stuff in other places, but since they’re such good reporters, NPR overlooks the harsh.
"End of season like this, to make Boston go home sad, crying, I’ll take it all day."—Robert Andino
none of that is probably helpful. it's really hard to pinpoint.
"End of season like this, to make Boston go home sad, crying, I’ll take it all day."—Robert Andino
re supporting the voice at the end of senteces
that makes me think of This American Life and Ira Glass, and in their case I concede the point.
I too got the new Oriole hat!
Though I’m exchanging the white panel for the black panel!
If you look at those UZR ratings or whatever
I thought about it when I was requesting it from my dad (also an O's fan in Indiana)
but the white panel is just too damn awesome old school for me to pass up.

Leaning towards Andino, but Hardy is a possibility.
Robert Andino, let me buy you a beer.

So I figure I should go with the black panel! Thanks to daveh, I have a stellar black Wieters jersey for $30 to boot. Now all we need is to clone Wieters, but from I’m told, SHJ is against stem cell research…
If you look at those UZR ratings or whatever
Luke Scott probably is too (just an assumption)
but he was non-tendeed, so it could still be a go.

So
With me being Atheistic and the missus being a member of the Tribe, Christmas is kind of a lazy off-day for us.
We had talked about going over our 2012 calendars this weekend, and as we were finishing the pancake breakfast, she said “wanna do this now?”
I said, “Bring it on, bitch,”, and then she looked at me all askance, and then I smiled and said, “prior rapport!”
And that got me a blank stare, so I had to explain it.
So CC has crept a little furhter into my day-to-day.

I got a great Skins zip up and O’s hoody from the wife and my parents got me this amazing thing from the NYT where they compile every article about the Orioles going back to ‘54 in a real nice leather bound and personalized book. It’s really fun to look back and remember all the O’s events over the years, but also to look at the articles and even the advertisements from back in the day. I swear it seems like the sports section of the NYT in the 1960s was exclusively sponsored by Scotch companies. Also there’s an article from 1995 by Krugman about how the wealth gap is growing and will continue to do so.
