Orioles 6, Tigers 2: Nolan Reimold and Jake Fox want to make the team

Just because this might be the only picture you ever see of Ryan Drese.

The Orioles win again! Nolan Reimold and Jake Fox both homered, accounting for five of the six runs by the Orioles today, and the O's pitching staff held the Tigers to just one run each in the first and ninth innings.

If Jake Arrieta was hoping for a strong start to help him get a leg up on Chris Tillman, I'd say he didn't come through. The run he gave up wasn't necessarily his fault as it scored on a misplayed pop-up to SS Nick Green, but he did allow two hits and two walks in his innings, with only seventeen of his thirty-three pitches thrown for strikes. Arrieta was followed by Ryan Drese, David Riske, Jason Berken, "Troy Patton," and Michael Ballard. Ballard gave up the 2nd run of the game, a home run to fellow unknown Ryan Streiby. Ballard is not, to my knowledge, related to Oriole great Jeff Ballard.

Reimold continues to try and force himself onto the roster as, in addition to his 6th inning 3-RBI home run, he walked and scored the games sixth run on a wild pitch. Fox's HR, hit in the 8th inning, scored Robert Andino, who had taken a base on balls. Other notable offensive performances were Josh Bell, who walked, singled, and stole a base, and Brendan Harris, who walked and scored on Reimold's HR.

The Orioles face the Red Sox tomorrow afternoon and I'll be happy to welcome Joe and Fred back to the broadcast booth. I've missed them.
