Out with the old, in with the Reimold

Since the Vlad signing showed up on the radar, CC has been discussing the pro and cons, one of those being that we won't get to see Nolan Reimold this year in Baltimore.

Well, he might just get his chance.

Star-divide

With Lee out for at least a few days with a strained left oblique, Luke Scott can be moved to first, which would also help him play with his torn labrum. That would open up LF for the Pie/ Reimold battle that I (and others) wanted to see at the start of the season.

While Moldy hasn't hit well so far this season (.220/.319/.677), we all remember his amazing '09 season and I do believe that showing confidence in him by giving him another shot will pay off, maybe opening the door to trading Vlad (who is hitting well lately) or Lee at the deadline.

Another option is bringing up Brandon Snyder, the perpetual prospect who is hitting well this year in AAA (.277/.340/.802) and while that is significantly better than what Moldy has done so far, I've been itching to see Reimold back in B-more for ages. He's proven he can hit in the bigs, let's give him the chance to do it again.

Not necessarily

But it has been suggested (Peter Schmuck) that a roster move is in the works.
I don’t want to see fox out there any more than I have to and with Lee’s age and injury history, you have to be ready to react.

I forgot.

Izzy is also out with some kind of nerve injury. So that’s 2 players out, we’ll need someone.

Reimold is out of options, no?

I think we want to bring him back to get a serious chance, then expose him to waivers, rather than expose him for what could be a quick-bounce situation like this.

If I'm not mistaken, he has one left.

Is there a site that has authoritative info on options?

I’m relying on the Camden Depot frontpage sidebar.

You can check by counting the number of seasons in which he made an ML appearance

and it's for the entire year.

we can send him up and down all year long. odds are he’ll come up sooner or later, so now is as good a time as any.

that said, snyder should get the nod. he’s clearly outperforming Reimold, and he’s a better 1B than Luke

Thank you both for the clarification

One of the many things I love about CC. Makes me incrementally less stupid all the time.

Agree

Reimold 2009 is looking more and more like a flash in the pan. If he can’t hit AAA pitching, he wont do any better here, and we have enough guys flirting with Senorita Mendoza.

he was already sent down once this year, right?

so we can send him down as much as we want the rest of the year.

They should anyway

especially since Luke is hurt, but if they bring Snyder up that wont happen.
