Roster moves: Roberts & Lee to the DL, Patton & Jakubauskas called up
Per MASNsports.com, Brian Roberts has been placed on the new seven day disabled list that was created for concussions only, and Derrek Lee has been placed on the fifteen day disabled list for his strained oblique. Troy Patton and Chris Jakubauskas were called up to replace the two injured Orioles, joining Brandon Snyder, who made his 2011 debut last night. Snyder replaced Cesar Izturis, who will have surgery on his ulnar nerve and be out for six to eight weeks.
Snyder will get the start tonight at first base, Robert Andino will play second base and bat lead off, and Felix Pie will play left field. Matt Wieters understandably needs a break after catching all fifteen innings last night, so Jake Fox will make the start behind the plate. That gives the Orioles a bench of Wieters and Luke Scott. That's a pretty shallow bench, but at least the pinch hitting options aren't bad.

I touched on it in the Bird Droppings, but it's ridiculous that we have a 9-man bullpen now.
There’s not a good reason to have nine pitchers in the bullpen when there’s 25 men on the roster. We have a two man bench. On days other than today our bench (for PH/PR opportunities) will be Jake Fox and either Felix Pie or Brandon Snyder.
I assume this is a temporary situation; given what the Orioles do with “Troy Patton” I wouldn’t be shocked to see him on the roster for two days, during which time he will not appear in a game, before being sent down in favor of, uhh… wow, we really have no position players to call up from Norfolk.
Well, have at it, Orioles. No position player is allowed to get hurt from now on.

two things
one – i already told you its a seven man bullpen with one six foot tall rabbit and one cackling unabomber.
two – it’s obviously a temporary measure because of last night, I bet we’re back to 8 men by Monday.
Free Nolan Reimold!
Hate to belabor the point, but
porque no Reimold?
no, not Olney. But I hear good things.
Isn't he playing pretty terrible down there too?

Not for 10 million dollars though.

Not so fast...
Before Silky D was an Oriole, the plan was for Luke to play first and Pie/Reimold to plattoon (or however the hell you spell it) in Left. Why don’t we go back to that plan?
I'm not sure how serious of a plan that ever really was.
The Nope, and Nope. Slurping went like this. Tomorrow, tomorrow. I do my best!
Maybe true...
But that still doesn’t change the fact that it works, at least in my mind (Not a trustworthy source of information, but still).

Felix Pie volunteered to pitch in the 15th inning last night. That’s why he raced to the infield.
Pie walked through the clubhouse today wearing a Felix the Cat T-shirt. Just thought you’d like to know.
Precious.
no, not Olney. But I hear good things.
Hilarious

The unfortunate degenerative legacy of BRob
Assuming he never bounces back to form, 5 years from now people may not remember the scrappy team leader, the doubling machine, the all star or the guy who flat out beat can’t miss golden boy jerry hairston.
He just might be looked upon as a guy whose career tanked and succumbed to injury once he got off the juice. A guy who concussed himself with his own bat and just would never stop sliding into first. A bad contract and missed opportunity by a slow-acting organization futilely trying to rebuild.
Please come back Brian. And stop sliding into first.
It sure would be nice to have Gavin Floyd in the rotation
Why the Buck not?!?

Starting pitching ain't the problem, hoss

Understood
but having BriBob around for another 2years at $10 mil per ain’t helping us either. We could have moved him for a player of value when we had the chance.
