The Orioles announced after tonight’s game that they have optioned RHP JASON BERKEN to Triple-A Norfolk.
Berken appeared in 15 games for the Orioles and was 0-2 with a 7.94 ERA (17.0IP, 15ER).
A corresponding roster move will be announced at a later time.

This looks like a roster shuffle...
…Yes, Berken has not returned to last year’s pre-injury form. And, to be honest, he might never be the same pitcher again. A torn labrum is not a little deal for a pitcher, as we all know.
That said, he just pitched multiple innings, so he’s not available for a few days anyways, so this might be a roster move on paper, just to get Alfredo Simon off the restricted list.
That said
The Orioles need to really do something about the bullpen. The rotation and lineup has gone through ups and downs, flashing good things in between bad, but the bullpen has been pretty consistently bad. And, it’s not going to get better soon.
I would like to see some kind of salary dump/change-of-scenery of a bad contract happen with Mike Gonzalez, with another team who has a similarly under-performing pitcher who is sitting in their doghouse. It’s getting harder and harder to imagine it getting any better with Gonzo.
Yea
So basically we’re replacing one shitty pitcher with another shitty pitcher.

I want to not be a sports fan
Just because you know how to read, doesn't mean you'll like the book.
They misspelled Michael Gonzalez.
Say no to Prince Fielder in 2012.
