Long time reader, first time post...
I am an Oriole season ticket holder, but I visited Nationals Park today. All in all, not a bad experience but I do not envy them for their stadium. Here is a memory that sticks:
Prior to the game, there are a dozen or so twentysomething guys and gals on the jumbotron informing everyone of how to behave. You really get taken to school before the game. For instance, I was informed that running onto the field during the game is illegal, and I would be sent to jail where, "did I really want to explain to someone that I was in jail because i ran onto the field?" Also, if you are an adult and you are lucky enough to catch a ball "Come on! Give it to a kid." The whole school session took what felt like ten minutes. It was really obnoxious (by the way I would never run onto the field during a game, or hesitate to give a game ball to a kid).
It's times like these that I am really grateful for the atmosphere at Camden. I am hoping, I am never read the riot act in Baltimore. It's half the reason I live here anyway.
