Or at least contemplate moving him into an 8th inning setup role. And I mean no disrespect to Kevin Gregg but between his rec specs and quirky mound mannerisms, he reminds me an awful lot of "The Office" antagonist. Sure, Saturday night's blown save was as much the defense - Pie diving play/Snyder keeping the ball in front - as it was Gregg's hanging sliders, and I know he has been pretty solid since his April atrocities, but something has got to give. For the Birds to battle back against the Rays, with the help of two Mark Reynolds bombs against stud starter David Price, and ultimately come up empty in extra innings is disheartening. A 5 game win streak on this homestand would have been nice. Now we're left worrying about whether the bullpen can hold a lead for Brian Matusz in the series finale. Here's hoping that for today at least, Kevin Gregg is more shutdown closer than merciless beet farmer.
