Who do you want in LF next year?

Just wanted to get a poll of birdland. Who do we want in LF next year (internally don't give me any stupid FA's). The four players i included were Luke Scott, Felix Pie, Matt Angle and Nolan Reimold. Obviously Felix Pie is the best defensively, and there are concerns that Scott and Reimold are not adequate LF defensive options. What do you think birdland, who do you want as the regular left fielder for the O's?

Also, there is nothing 'obvious' about Felix being the best defensive option in LF

Angle is clearly the best purely defensive option. Felix might just be the worst defensive option, in spite of his athletic ability. He looks terrible every game he is out there.

by a variety of metrics...

pie has actually been the worst in left field this year, though, in all fairness, his track record over the past two years is favorable.

I voted Reimold

but I don’t hate Luke as much as everyone else. If we brought him back at the right price he could be a decent option. Of course I rather he DH, but I also rather Reynolds DH, and I can’t have both. I figure recovery from the fabrum bear shouldn’t be such an issue for a hitter (though it may impact his arm in the OF).

I guess what I’m saying is I wouldn’t mind bringing Luke back on the cheap, and I know if we do Buck will end up playing him in the OF over Nolan. I still rather see Nolan in LF though.

I don't hate Luke at all

I just think his time for being productive in Baltimore is near an end.

Don't blame me.

I voted for Kodos.

I dunno

Can we sign Manny Ramirez or some other past his prime veteran for $5 million to play left?

That list made me barf in my mouth

I like Riemold and he hasn’t been given a fair shot but he still really hasn’t proven himself either.

If we can get Gary Roenicke with him, along with a dash of Benny Ayala.

I'm sure the whole team came by and voted today

they didn’t have anything else to do.

I would like to see Reimold out there

With Angle as a 4th outfielder / late inning defensive replacement. I don’t think Pie or Scott bring any value to this team for the future.

Easy Decision

Reimold hands down the only other question is Will Angle hit enough so we can get rid of PIE already, Angle is a 10 times better fielder, then all of them COMBINED but more importantly then PIE and a 100 time better base stealer, he has better baseball instincts and baseball intelligence. Angle for the 4th OF role

Pie sucks shit at hitting anyway

I think I’d prefer Angle to Pie right now regardless of whether he can hit or not.

Adam Jones

If they aren’t going to trade him, they should move him from center and find someone who is less of a liability with the glove. Jones should be a plus fielder in left, and while his bat will be less valuable, we will have an easier time finding a better fielding center fielder than we will finding a plus bat for left.

Matt Angle’s a good center fielder but I don’t know that I’d want him in the lineup more than every once in awhile…

I agree

Matt Angle is a marginal bench player at best.

I couldn't be more of a fan of Reimold...

but he really needs to start hitting with more consistency. The past week or so has not been pretty. I haven’t looked at his advanced hitting statistics yet (I think they are decent), but the ordinary ones like batting average (.230’s) aren’t good right now.

I only say this because the Orioles Front Office is obsessed with stupid statistics like avg, rbi’s, wins, loses, saves, etc.

Maybe all those naysayers were right

CC has declined (JP, I’m looking at you). I mean, everyone on god’s green earth should have voted for Reimold, right?

I think Luke Scott..

is a better player in the short term, and I believe he can get us a B-level prospect in a trade deadline deal next year. I don’t see the O’s nontendering him, because he is somewhat valuable and I think Nolan will be the 4th OF/occasion DH. Still getting 400 AB’s next year with Luke the regular LF vs Righties. Anyone notice Felix is last in WAR this year, miraculously beating out Adam Dunn.
