Around the Minors 8-17-11:

Norfolk lost to Charlotte 3-1.  Chris Tillman went 7 innings, giving up 3 earned runs on 7 hits (2 homers) and 3 walks while striking out 11, and posting a GB/FB of 5/4.  Since he had one decent start, I can only assume the Orioles will promote him next week.  Wynn Pelzer went two perfect innings, striking out 1.  Ryan Adams went 1-4 with a double and a K.  Jake Fox went 0-4 with a K.  Brandon Snyder went 0-4 with 2 Ks.

Bowie lost to Richmond 8-5.  Bobby Bundy struggled, giving up 8 earned in 3 innings on 9 hits (2 homers) and 2 walks, striking out 2 and posting a GB/FB of 3/0.  Xavier Avery went 2-4 with a walk and 2 strikeouts.  LJ Hoes went 0-3 with a walk.  Joe Mahoney went 1-4 with a triple and 2 Ks.  Caleb Joseph went 0-3 with a walk.  Aaron Baker went 1-3 with a sac fly.  Greg Miclat went 1-5.

Frederick beat Winston Salem 4-1.  Jonathan Schoop went 2-4.  Manny Machado went 0-4.  Kipp Schutz went 1-4 with a homer.  Randy Henry went 2 innings, striking out 3.  Matt Gurka 1.2 innings, striking out 2.

Delmarva lost to Lakewood 5-4.  Both Johnny Ruettiger and Ty Kelly went 0-2 with a walk and a sacrifice bunt.  Michael Ohlman went 0-2 with 2 walks.  Matt Bywater had an encouraging outing, going 5.2 innings, giving up 1 earned run on 5 hits and 1 walk, striking out 8 and posting a GB/FB of 8/3.

Aberdeen lost to Auburn 4-2.  Glynn Davis went 1-4 with a walk and 3 Ks and 2 stolen bases.  Mychal Givens went 1-4 with K and a CS.  Wynston Sawyer went 0-3 with a walk and 2 strikeouts.  Connor Narron and Dudley Leonora went 0-3 with a walk and a K, though Leonora committed an error.  Tyler Wilson got the start and he went 5 innings, giving up 1 earned on 2 hits and 1 walk, striking out 3, and posting a GB/FB of 6/6.  His ERA as an iBird is 1.93.

The GCL Orioles beat the GCL PHN 13-5.  Eduardo Rodriguez stumbled a bit today, going 4.1 innings, giving up 4 earned on 3 hits and 5 walks, striking out 4 posting a GB/FB of 6/1.  His ERA is 1.94 though.  Rod Bernadina went 1-4 with a walk.  Tyler Townsend went 1-3 with a double, a walk (!) and a K.  He was also removed for a pinch hitter in the 7th.

The DSL Orioles beat the DSL Cubs1 12-9.  Byron Capellan went 1-3 with a walk and his 15th error.  Hector Veloz went 0-2 with 3 walks and 2 errors (he has 19 on the year).
