Around the Minors 9-16-11:

Your Frederick Keys won the 2011 Mills Cup, winning Game 4 11-3!  It was a great season by the Keys and this title has been well deserved.  After giving up single runs in the first and second inning, Frederick scored all 11 runs in the top of the 3rd.  Jonathan Schoop went 2-5 with a CS.  Manny Machado went 1-4 with a 3 run homer and a walk.  Aaron Baker went 1-4 with a double.  Glynn Davis went 1-3 with a walk and a SB and threw out a runner out at home.  Ashur Tolliver capped a fine season, going 3 innings, striking out 4, walking 1 and not allowing a hit or a run and posting a GB/FB of 2/1.  Jason Gurka also finished a successful season, going a scoreless 9th.

Some of the top prospects are now in the instructionals with the Orioles, and some head to the AFL soon.

And so it goes for Around the Minors in 2011.  This was definitely a fun task, and I was happy to receive a lot of great feedback (special thanks to BaltoBen and jq!) and also very happy to do my little part for a fantastic website.
