What part of the city are you gonna be in?
I’d skip Pat’s and Geno’s, which are pretty much just tourist traps, and go with Jim’s if you want something thats still a classic. And don’t overlook the cheese whiz. It sounds gross, but its really an intergral part. Slices of cheese don’t melt and coat the steak the same way cheese whiz does.
Independence hall area.

I think Pat’s vs. Geno’s is fun to go and taste-test if you’re looking for something stupid to do (or something to do when you’re drunk, but neither one is great in my opinion. I like Abner’s in university city and Dallesandro’s in Roxborough (used to win “best of Philly” but I think is under new ownership from my good old days), but you won’t be anywhere near them. My favorite place was the skyline on Market, which wasn’t well-known and is now closed anyway.
I’ve heard Jim’s is better than Pat’s and Geno’s, though I’ve never been there, and it’s by far the closest to old city of the well-known places.
By recommendations on what we should see today?

I've honestly never done much of the tourist-y stuff in Philly, so i'm not really sure
Beyond the obvious spots like Independence Hall and and the Liberty Bell, the Constitution Center is probably a safe bet. I’ve been to a couple of events there, but never actually seen the exhibits. Theres a big visitor center right on Independence Mall that could probably point you in the right direction.
I think the museum at the constitution center is worth seeing if you have time (if you haven’t been to it, though, don’t sacrifice Independence Hall/walking around the historic section.) If you want to see the historic district, I think the walking tours that leave from the visitors’ center are really educational.
I always say I’m going to get the Mutter Museum (at the American College of Physicians. Lots of medical oddities and history of medicine stuff. Einstein’s brain is on display there) but it’s off the beaten path a little bit from the tourist stuff and I never make it.
I lived 2 blocks from the Mutter Museum for 3 years
and still somehow never found the time to go inside.
Jim's, with whiz

Right...
The video taping is what did the Eagles in. I hope the Patriots drop 100 on someone while the imperial march plays in the background.

Andy Reid vs. Belichick did the Eagles in…I admit that. But it was still a 3 point game. One first down is possibly the difference.
Just like I could say “Right….Jeffrey Maier is what did the Orioles in”, but we still still have our hatred, right?.
I blame Maier less than I do the umps...
That shall not be named. I just want to get an Eagles fan to acknowledge that the only reason they were in that game was because of DMac and TO. I can’t find anyone who looks at that era with anything less than disgust and that kinda sad.
