Joy R. Absalon-US PRESSWIRE - Presswire
The Baltimore Orioles are in the playoffs for the first time since 1997, and Camdencast was in the process of taping as the clinching moment happened.
We ended up skipping a week of Camdencast, but we're back with a vengeance to give you an episode that radically altered even as we were in the middle of taping it. You can look forward to the moment where Texas beat the Angels, the a little Camdencast celebration began.
As for the episode itself, my podcasting partner-in-crime Andrew was back, and we spent the first part of the podcast talking about the Most Valuable Oriole award, won for a second straight year by Adam Jones, and how the growth of Jones - and the second and third place winners, Jim Johnson and Matt Wieters - has helped the Orioles to get where they have gotten this year.
We tried to read into the future and look at some of the possible playoff scenarios, wondering which would technically be "the best" on paper as far as winning the division or the wild card, given the other teams that the Orioles would then have to play. Who scares us the most? Justin Verlander and the Tigers? The Rangers offensive juggernaut? The mirror-image surprise team in the Athletics? Or those hated Yankees?
Things shift gears once the news breaks and Andrew and I consider another question, namely: when did you start to believe? When did YOU start to believe? You can hear this and our thoughts on the evolution of this strange season, along with all the other usual random weirdness, including things like an appreciation for Gary Thorne's "DRINK! ... responsibly" promos, on the latest Camdencast.
This episode is about 1 hour and 15 minutes in length. With the playoffs looming, Andrew and I had a good bit to say. Break 1 comes in at 20:20 and Break 2 is at 48:40. Apologies to anyone who submitted to the last Comment Box, as we did not get to the segment this time. However, it will return for the next, postseason preview edition of Camdencast, so stay posted.
Below you can find an embedded streaming player of the episode. All you need to do is press the triangle and it will play right in your browser.
